A CULINARY DISASTER

One of the easiest (although not the quickest) classic French potato dish is the famous Gratin Dauphinois. Peel your potatoes with one of those swivel peelers and then continue peeling off slices of the potato. Keep going until you have filled your recipient. Add plenty of crushed garlic.

Get your hands in there and give it a good mix (yes! Jamie Oliver style) and then fill the dish with cream.... none of that diet version here, use the real thing!

Cover with foil and pop it in an oven at 175C) for around 2 hours, removing the foil towards the end.

The result is the creamiest most delicious potato dish youve ever eaten. Alternatively you can do what I did. Pop it into the oven ... FORGET TO TAKE IT OUT and recuperate the charred remains 15 hours later !!!!!! Then soak the dish for 2 days so that you can remove the burnt offering.

The term 15 hours has now become a running joke in our house so Ive been designing instead of cooking ... much sagfer and unlikely to poison anyone.

Have a good week, stay safe and ENJOY!

LIFE GOES ON ...

Want a laugh! Ive just listened to the Health minister bragging that we have given a first dose of vaccine to 800,000 people.

Ive check the UK figures and you have vaccinated 700,000 people in the last 2 DAYS !!!!

The situation here is France is nowhere near as bad as in the UK, but it will be. So instead of watching the news, I try to find the few beautiful things that life still offers us. This photo is one of them.

We have had quite a few snowfalls and you can see some remnants on the photo but the light of the sunset on these trees was just magic.

It looked like Christmas lights. In the hope that you will be tempted by my two latest designs, Im on designer discount from today so please feel free to have a look around, have a laugh at the French and their incredible arrogance and stay safe ...

Have a good week.

POST COVID HUMOUR

As something happened to the story I tried to add last week, this is rather old news, but this was my solitary birthday breakfast as my husband was in hospital.

I got a really good present though.

He was sent home in the afternoon in its been a long slog since hes been back. However, its given me a take on covid humour and so Ive been having fun. I hope you enjoy my latest covid designs.

They have jsut cancelled new year for us as we will have a nightly curfew from 8pm - 6am from the 15th, lifted on the 24th, but not the 31st.

I hope Santa puts a few packets of Prozac under the tree!. Laugh about it, or go mad. Stay safe.

CONFINED IN A FEVER HOSPITAL

Yes, as you in the UK go back into lockdown, were one up on you already as weve been locked down, or in my case locked IN for a week now.

Locked in because my husband has Covid.

Where he got it I have no idea since he has hardly left the house in weeks as he was feeling very unwell and absolutely exhausted.

When he finally consulted the doctor about losing 10 kilos in 4 weeks the doc did a covid test just to reassure him.

We couldnt believe the result ... nor the fact that I am negative.

Obviously Im locked in with him, but this is where I went today, OUTSIDE of our 1 km boundary because it was the only place I could think of where I would meet absolutely no-one.

For a precious half hour I was able to contemplate the beauty of our little lake and have a little scream when a donkey started braying in the next field.

My heart goes out to any of you who are also living with covid.

My husband will be going into hospital tomorrow so Im probably be designing more to keep busy and keep an eye out on the 10th as Ill be on designer discount to celebrate my birthday.

Stay safe and ENJOY!

MEET CHARLOTTE

Charlotte, born on the 23rd September is the first member of a new generation in my family, making me a GREAT aunt. (I always knew I was fantastic ... now I have official confirmation.

My own mother is not so exstatic about becoming a great grandmother as she says it makes her feel really, really old, but my lucky lucky younger sister is absolutely over the moon.

Charlotte weighed in at a little over two bags of sugar as my sister put it ... she was born earlier than expected at 7:12 in the evening.

However, mother and baby were sent home at 2 in the morning !!!!!

No comment on that ... but just wanted to share with all you GRANDmothers that even lowly aunts can be GREAT ... and she is a sweety sucking her thumb just as soon as she was born.

While Im green with envy, you just enjoy your week and stay safe.
