Think FAST and dial the emergency services. Unfortunately weve had just such a crisis here in Panissières so Im sharing with you all the signs that should tell you that something is not quite right ....

Dont we just love that word transient.. ? Much better. So ... odd sensations in the face, odd sensations in an arm, difficulty to find your words and call the emergency services.

Consequently Ive not been very design active this week, so Ive dug out a couple of get well cards ...

Last weekend was Mothers Day here in France and my sweet hubby, knowing that my children are far away and probably not even aware of the French date for this event, came home with this lovely Mothers Day celebration heart.

It looked wonderful and tasted heavenly.

Sorry to brag about hubby but since I dont have any grandchildren ((yet! ... will I ever) to brag about I thought Id share the delights of French patisserie with you.

My latest new card design is this Twist & Pop card. The concertina insert twists when you open the card to lay out horizontally. Theyre incredibly easy to make up but definitely have that WOW factor.

After 6 years in this village weve just discovered a chapel way out in the countryside and decided to explore around the chapel with the dog this afternoon, as the rain had finally stopped after days of virtually non-stop downpour!

Gorgeous country lane that eventually led to some houses ...As we drew up to the first one my husband explains that we know the woman who lives there.

Wed only been there once but decided to say hallo.

So glad we did, because at the first bend in her path we were met by this incredible display of rhododendrons, a little the worse for wear after all the rain (all the petals) on the ground but none the less spectacular.

The tradition of offering lily of the valley (muguet) dates back to 1560 and Charles IX who, so says the legend, was offered the flower on the 1st May by his host at Saint-Paul-Trois-Château who had picked it in his garden.

Enchanted by the gesture, the following year Charles offered the flower to all the ladies of his court and the tradition was soon adopted by all the French.

Despite a blip during the revolution when such actions were frowned up, the tradition has remained and any person who has picked the flower from their gardens or the woods has the right to sell the flower on the street without a license or any form of legal authorisation !

I love this tradition and every 1st May offer a single stem to anyone I think can benefit from this good luck charm.

The photo is of my stock and I spent a happy day offering the flower ... to a few friends, but mostly to all the old dears (read senior citizens) who regularly get a flying visit from me, just to make sure theyre OK.

I made a lot of people smile that day. It may be a little late (I forgot to put up the photo last week) but I offer you this mark of my affection ... may it bring you happiness throughout the year.

It might not look much to you, but the LEAVES ARE OUT on the trees in my garden, out enough that they actually look like leaves.

With a sudden burst of summer here in summer after a long, long, dreary winter, its about time.

Weve heard endlessly about how the spring is a fortnight late (and we live at 800 m so even later for us) but the temperatures have suddenly rocketed up to an unseasonably hot 24- 26 this week and we have no shade in the garden.

Well thats about to change ... thankyou leaves ! Ive caught the sun on my two forays away from translation and into the garden, but I chose not to put up a photo of me ...
