Summer Fayres

Despite the temperatures being in the low 30sC I am still doing regular sales. On Thursday we had the first coffee morning sale at a new venue.

We didnt know what to expect as usually they take a couple of months to really get going but this morning was a pleasant surprise as I sold lots of cards.

I did something different this time as with the temperatures cards in cello bags tend to sweat which ruins them, so this time I took them all without bags & had the envelopes ready to match up with the cards.

It actually worked out better so for the remainder of the sales during the summer I will do the same thing.

Crystal Art

Two weeks ago a new craft shop opened about 15 minutes away from where I live.

Being in Spain, craft shops are very few & far between so of course, I had to pay a visit. They were doing a demo & try for crystal art, something I have never come across before but it turns out that its like painting by numbers but with crystals.

After half an hour playing I just had to buy a kit to do at home. I chose one that makes an 8 x 8 card to start me off.

I intended doing a small amount each day but got so engrossed that I finished the whole thing in 4 hours.

Rather than using it for a card I am going to mount it into a box frame as a gift for one of my great granddaughters.Needless to say I will be going to get another kit to do for my other great granddaughter.

Swing Chair

For 2 or 3 years I have been wanting a swing seat for the garden but it has always been bottom of the list.

Recently I saw one which was the same colour as our netted gazebos & it was on special offer.Did the order – online without looking at it in the shop.

It arrived 4 days later in 2 very large boxes which weighed a ton. We started to assemble it but as there was only picture instructions it was a bit hit & miss but finally after 6 evenings we managed to complete it.

Cant work during the day as with temperatures of over 30C it is just too hot.Anyway, it has turned out to be the coolest spot in our garden as with its back to the gazebo it is shaded from the sun but catches whatever breeze is blowing. The picture shows the chair with its canopy and also Minnie cat who really wants to sit next to Mum but is scared because the chair moves.

Salt Lakes And Mountains

With Allens sister & brother in law visiting we decided to take them on the tourist train to see the salt lakes near us at Torrevieja. It was a lovely sunny morning and the trip was very informative, hearing that the collection of salt in the area dates back to Roman times.

Amazing what the Romans started.

It was interesting to see the salt mountains close up & we were surprised because they looked as though they had been sprinkled with glitter.Following the trip we had lunch out (a common occurrence for our days in Spain) at a restaurant on the beach. Our visitors return home to chilly UK tomorrow and are not looking forward to the change in temperature.

Monty Stops Crafting

For the past 3 weeks I have been ploughing my way through order for Christmas cards from my regular customers.

Everytime I think I am getting to the end of them my email pings & another order arrives.

I have to fit it the cardmaking along with playing lawn bowls here in Spain. I have also done 4 crafts sales with another 2 over the next weekend. While I craft my male cat sleeps in the second computer chair but the other day he got up onto the desk and walked along to me.

He then decided that laying on me would mean he got cuddles as it would stop me crafting. He spent 30 minutes snuggling before he decided it was time to eat and I could get back to crafting.

At least his sister prefers just to sleep on the bed.Good job I love him.
