Just before Christmas I was asked to attend a Christmas Fair with my cards.
Since then it has snowballed and I am now doing about 7 sales a month. I was talking to a friend who owns a screen printing and embroidery firm and he does the shirts for our bowls club.
He asked me whether I had a shirt with something on to show the name of the stall and my name.
I told him I didn?t. Next time I went to collect some bowls shirts he produced a black polo shirt with my name printed on the front.
I was really pleased with it but then he turned it round and I could see the back. He had put my trading name across the back in large letters so people will be able to spot me even if my back is turned. The picture shows the printing on the front and back. This week I am showcasing 2 cards made using designs by Joan King.
Over the last couple of months I haven?t been able to do a lot of the craft fairs which I should have been doing due to my other half being ill.
As he is improving now I have started doing them again.
I enjoy mixing with the ladies who have other stalls, especially the shoes & handbags. On Tuesday we held a fair at my bowls club which coincided with a big bowls competition being held there.
We had 18 stalls & as it was well advertised we had lots of people through the door, plus all the bowlers. I was also acting as coordinator for the bowls so had to keep going out to sort that then back to my stall.
Luckily I have a young Spanish girl who sells childrens books & is always on the stall next to me, who looks after mine too. When all the rest of the stalls packed away at 3pm I was still sorting out the bowling so left mine out.
Once the bowling was finished I went to pack my stall away & found that one of the bowls club members had been selling on my behalf & had more money for me.
It turned out to be my best sale ever & the venue have already agreed to another one next month when we are also hosting the Spanish National bowls so I am hoping it will be another good day. I am featuring 2 cards using designs by Gail Collins.
The first is a Cornish scene which takes me back to my childhood holidays in Cornwall & the second is one which really suits my personality ?

Over the last month I have done 13 days of Christmas Fairs. It all started with 1 sale. I was then recommended for the others.
I seem to have spent my time loading and unloading the car, setting up then selling and chatting for the day. I have made some new friends while doing the sales and we have become like a little family, with the same ladies turning up at each sale.
We encourage each other and commiserate with each other on the rare days the sales are not what we hoped.
One of the ladies I have met sells makeup and jewellery. She has recently bought a full market stall with collapsible frame, cover and table.
She has found a market that only charges 10? to set up for the morning. As her stall only needs half of the 3 metres she has offered me the only half for my cards.
I have decided to give it a try in January.
Hopefully it will be a good outlet for us both. The photos show my last 2 fairs, one at a school where there were about 200 children running around (never again lol) and the other in a bar/restaurant in Torrevieja.
I did this one twice and it proved to be my most profitable venue. The view from the bar really helps too.
Back in September 2010 4 Craftsuprint Crafters based on the Costa Blanca got together for lunch & a chat.
It has taken almost 4 years before the same 4 were able to coordinate calendars & meet again. Today Carol Sear, Joan Prince, Lorraine Appleby & myself met for lunch & a chat.
This time it had a touch of sadness as Carol is returning to the UK to live so will be leaving our little group. Carol - you will be missed but the other 3 of us will try to make sure it isnt another 4 years before we meet for lunch again.
This week in a rare break from household tasks we had a day trip to Benidorm. Doesn?t have the same ring as Bangor lol. Allens son & daughter in law are having a week away so we went up to see them.
Had a long walk along the sea front, then had a leisurely lunch before walking back via the shopping streets.
It was a lovely break from routine & we are going again today to take them to Guadalest which is a fortress town up in the mountains. It will be back to the routine tomorrow.
