Fair At The Church Of The Holy Rude In Stirling

Last Saturday was the Fair at the Church of the Holy Rude in Stirling. A beautiful Church of Scotland Church, dating back to the 15th Century.

The Church has been the historic Burgh Kirk, or Parish Church, of Stirling for 900 years and is the only Church still in active use, apart from Westminster Abbey in London, to have hosted the coronation, when the infant King James VI of Scotland (later also James I of England) was crowned in the Holy Rude on the 29th July 1567. The day was wonderful both outside, with lovely sunshine although a bit cold and inside with lots of lovely people browsing through the many tables of craft work on offer.

I myself sold £65.50 of cards and also raised £77.50 for the Driving Force in Bonnybridge. You may remember a few weeks ago I also raised funds for this cause with a raffle at the surgery?s flu jag day.

Many of my non Scottish friends laugh at this term, flu jag, but that is what we call it here in Scotland. Carol Clarke?s 3D Shelf cards were very popular as were Claire James?

Christmas cards. I also had some of my book folding displays on the table. Here are two of my latest card uploads.

Fund Raising

Today was the flu jag day at my surgery. I offered to raffle some of my cards and creations and sell cards too to raise funds for The Driving Force. These are a group of men and women who volunteer their time to take cancer patients to hospital for their treatment.

I had occasion to use them last year when I had to attend The Beatson in Glasgow for six weeks radiotherapy treatment. I made Janice McFarlane's Ice Castle and this was the first prize in the raffle.

I had two book folding designs as prizes 2 and 3. In total the raffle raised £449 and I sold some of my cards too raising another £139. A fantastic total to give to this amazing group. The Ice Castle was well admired so thank you Janice for your amazing design.

Two of my latest cards.

My New Conservatory

Well after 32 years in our house I finally got my conservatory. Always wanted one and now I have my dream. I love it. Can?t thank Dalmation Windows of East Kilbride enough for their fantastic workmanship and dedication.

Many of the days they were working it was raining a lot and they were soaked to the skin but kept on working.

My cats were a bit frightened at first of this new room but now they love it and watch the birds in the garden.

I think they think they are in the garden. Roll on summer. These are two of my favourite cards this week. My two favourite designs this week.

Craft Fair At The SECC

HI everyone. I was at the opening day of the Craft Fair at the SECC yesterday. Not a happy experience I am afraid.

I did stock up on all the essentials I was after but instead of the Craft Fair being split between two different halls we were all in the one hall.

It was very busy and moving around was not easy. I was chatting to a few ladies and I asked them if they had heard of the website and then started to laugh.

Over the shoulder of one of the ladies was a large purple bag that looked very familiar. Here are two of my favourite cards this week.

What An Amazing Week

Well what a week it has been. It started last Friday with my winning the Crafter of the Year award again for the third time in the last four years.

I am so happy and delighted that the designers like my work and voted for me.

A huge thank you to all of the designers who voted for me and to those who didn?t. Keep up your amazing work producing such gorgeous designs that we cardmakers can turn into stunning cards. Then today I got the news I have been waiting for.

I am clear of all cancer.

It has been a long 17 months but with the help of my amazing family and all my friends here on Cup I got through it and I hope I can give inspiration to anyone who finds themselves in the same situation.

Have your regular checkups and don?t be afraid. The earlier they catch cancer the better chance of a cure there is. I am proof of that. Here are two of my favourite cards uploaded recently.
