When I found out a couple of months ago that I'm going to be a great-granny in July, I decided to get some wool and knit some little things for the baby.
As I hadn't knitted for over thirty years, I thought I might have to learn all over again.
However, as soon as I picked up the needles, I knew what I was doing. Reading patterns came straight back to me too. I've also done some crochet which I hadn't done for decades. It seems that once a skill is learned, it never leaves you. As you can see from the photo, I've made girl and boy items rather than neutrals.
The unused items will go to charity, so nothing is wasted. These are 2 of my shaped toppers. I hope you like them.
We had an unexpected visitor to our garden this week. This lovely sparrowhawk had caught a pigeon for its lunch and chose our garden to devour it.
My husband ran to get his video camera to discover that the smart card was full, my granddaughter's phone was out of charge and so was my camera.
We eventually found a working camera and a camcorder, but we needn't have worried. The bird was happy to take its time and was there for almost an hour altogether so we got loads of shots.
I then had the unpleasant task of cleaning up after it so that we could let the dog out. These are 2 of my recent cards which I hope you will like.
In Paris last week, we were fascinated by these padlocks attached to the railings of two of the footbridges across the Seine.
I looked it up when we came home and discovered that they are put there by couples.
They write their names, and sometimes a message, on the padlock, lock it on to the railings and throw the key into the river Seine to seal their love.
The only way to break the seal is to unlock the padlock.
Although it sounds very romantic, apparently some Parisians are not too happy about their historic bridges being used this way and the structure of the railings is endangered due to the weight of the thousands of padlocks that have accumulated.
I had never seen this practice before, but there are many other cities throughout the world where they have them.
And now I know why there are one or two padlocks attached to one of our local footbridges. These are 2 of my new Christmas pyramid card fronts.

Last weekend my daughter, granddaughter and I went to Paris to celebrate my daughter's 40th birthday. We visited several art galleries and churches and saw some wonderful art, both classic and contemporary.We went to the Arc de Triomphe and stood watching the the traffic which was an entertainment in itself.
It was like a giant roundabout with numerous exits and no lane markings or traffic lights. I have no idea how anyone knew where they were going. The designer shops were fabulous, but well out of our price range. At least we could dream. No visit to Paris would be complete without a trip to the Eiffel Tower.
My granddaughter and I went up to the top, but my daughter only ventured as far as the second level and then went back down to the first to wait for us.
The view from the top was amazing. We hardly stopped all weekend, travelling miles around the city on the Metro and on foot. We had a fabulous time together with more than our share of giggles. These are 2 of my teardrop side panel card fronts.

My daughter, granddaughter and I went to Edinburgh for a day last week. It was our intention to visit a couple of art galleries, but we ended up shopping, having a lovely lunch in a restaurant in Rose Street and doing some sight seeing.
Edinburgh is such a vibrant city with so much to see and do. I love it but it's a three hour journey each way, so we don't get there very often. However, those galleries are still waiting for us, so we'll have to do it soon again, perhaps for a longer stay next time.
