Powys Castle

We are members of the National Trust and quite often have a ride out to visit one of their properties.

Last weekend was really nice so we drove out to Powys Castle, North Wales.

It is a lovely castle inside with elaborately painted ceilings, unlike some castles which are mostly derelict this one has furnished rooms.

The gardens surrounding the castle are delightful with many different flower beds on different levels. A lovely day out.

Sophies Cake

My granddaughter Sophie ( 8 years old ) had to make a cake for a competition at school. She wasnt allowed to have any help but she has made cakes before. This is her cake. Unfortunately she did not win so she says she will try again next year.

The cakes were sold off after school to raise money. So not only did my daughter have to pay for all the ingredients but then she had to buy four pieces of their own cake so they could take it home.

Valencia Bio Park

I have just returned from a great holiday in Valencia, Spain. What a great place, loads to see and do. This is a photo of me in the Bio Park. It is a great place, it has been set out so well that it is like a walking safari.

You get so close to the animals it is amazing. Here I am walking through the lemur enclosure and as you can see there is one right by my feet.

Half Term Treat

It was half term for my grandchildren last week so we drove up to Llandudno in North Wales. The children love it up there, so much to see and do. We had a pub lunch and then a ride up the Great Orme in an old Victorian tram.

This is pulled up the mountainside by cables underneath. Half way up we got off to explore the copper mines which are thousands of years old. The children were fascinated. We were all worn out at the end of the day but it was very enjoyable.

Sophies Sports Day

Many times when the annual school sports day is scheduled for my grandchildren something has happened so I cant get there.

Quite often it has been rained off or postponed because of bad weather but this year I managed to get there.

It was on the understanding however, that Nana ( thats me) was not taking part in any activity that would make me feel foolish.

The sun was shining and a great day was enjoyed by all. I got some good photos for my album too.
