News & Updates from Carol Dunne

We have recently returned from a cruise around the British Isles which also called into the Scilly Isles and also sailed down the River Seine as far as Rouen in France.
Unfortunately we had sea fog when we reached the Scilly Isles but we still managed to get ashore to see Tresco Gardens.
We must return when the weather is better. We were rewarded by cruising down the beautiful river Seine and also to visit the fabulous city of Rouen with its half timbered buildings.
A wonderful city which is now on my go back to list.

I have just returned from a great holiday in La Rochelle. France. We had a busy time with so many site seeing places to visit. I think it will be a go back to place.
I found the hollyhocks absolutely amazing, they sprout up from every nook and cranny the seeds can germinate in. The annoying thing is that I have tried a few times to grow them and never had much luck. I must try again.

Not long returned home after a few weeks in Gran Caneria, This is the pool I swam in each day.
We had a fabulous time and of course we ate and drank more that we should as you do on holiday.
But what a shock to get home to temperatures of -6 Celsius and my garden frozen solid. Fortunately I had filled all the bird feeders up so that all the little birds could get some food.

I have recently been on holiday to Puglia in Southern Italy, ( the part that looks like the heel of a boot ).
I have never been there before and found it incredibly interesting.
Alberobella is one of the places that I found fascinating and I will paint some watercolour paintings of the photos I took here.
The houses have conical roofs and they look like goblins should live there. Fabulous place with a lovely town centre.

I am always making something, usually I have about five projects on the go at once, if I get bored doing one then I switch to another and so it goes on.
I belong to two different art groups, one of which I am a founder member and we have been going now for 22 years.
It gives me great pleasure at group meetings to see lots of people joining in with something I started off all those years ago.
For the last few years unfortunately because of COVID we couldnt have our yearly art exhibitions.
This year was the first exhibition for about three years and it was very successful. So nice to see so many people coming to see all out paintings. Here are my own paintings that I put in the exhibition.
