Away!

We have been away for 3 weeks, a lovely trip to Victoria was had. It is something we had planned for 2020 then covid intervened so was high time to tick it off our bucket list, though i am sure we will visit again sometime.

My news pic is of a model Tudor village in one of Melbournes parks, it was given by the people of Lambeth to thank Victorians for sending food to them during the food shortages following WWII.

With school holidays now over it is time to get back to designing, and of course i have plenty of holiday snaps for inspiration!

One Of Our Resident Birds

Being rural we have a number of native birds here. This is one of our adult Butcher Birds. He was just hanging around this day and i got a nice shot off (with the camera, lol).

I also call them freeloaders as when i let my chooks out they will inevitably head straight in for a feed.

Sometimes there can be 4 in there at a time.

Hot And Wild Weather

Summer is almost over here in Queensland but unfailingly we will have a heatwave in February (though luckily it has been not too hot a summer generally speaking.) We have had some terrible bushfires in Qld and flooding in the North!

Last post i showed how lovely and green it is after some rain the other week. Very little rain this time (and luckily no hail) but some good storms have swept passed. My pic shows what is left of my covered peach and apple tree after the last storm with very strong winds.

To Mow Or Not To Mow That Is The Question

Of course i am pretending there is an option not to. We have had 4 inches of rain in a week, spaced over 3 days. We did need the 1st inch as it was getting dry, the dam and tanks were still ok but it just kept coming.

The lawn is now very lush and green and lovely underfoot. I know i shouldnt complain because they do say we are coming into a new El Nino pattern after the last 2 years of La Nina but OMG it has been so hot this week where the rest of the summer has been quite mild.

It is supposed to cool off in a few days then it will out with the lawn mower.

Our Hare

One of our hares has been hanging out near the house lately. This morning i looked out the kitchen window and there he was. It seems he was getting dripped on and was a little wet as we had had rolling thunderstorms all night.

I was very quiet to open the door for this photo but as soon as i closed it when i came back in he scampered off.

I dont mind having the hares here as they are not destructive like the rabbits.
