Another cockpit close upMy visit this week on Monday was busy very busy. The weather was beautiful considering it was supposed to be raining. Here I caught 492nd FS quite close.
You can even see the pilot and his WSO in the back, I do believe they were hot pitting as they went out for roughly an hour came back refuelled and re launched..Wont be long before next weeks visit.

Here we have the New F-35 Lightning from RAF Lakenheath did low approach then a tight turn Just above the tower.
If you look closely you can just see the fluff forming around his wings as he turns. Not so long ago I could only dream of getting a shot like this How times have changed and I have I think got better as the time has gone by.
Catching them used to be a real challenge for me.... I had to work really fast to get them shot before they went out of my view finder.I remember coming home many times with only half a jet photo

Low approach is the way to go this week!Nice and low on approach to runway then give it some beans wheels up and off again..I just love the way they do it...
I must be mad to stand for hours just watching LOLThe noise is unbelievable when they do this, in fact the ground vibrates hahhaha and whilst they are doing all this showing off the traffic gets worse as it slows down to watch..https://www.craftsuprint.com/tina-fitch/

Well if you stand too close youre bound to get burnt! The Lakenheath maintainer watching the F15e take off from the last chance spot.Look at the afterburner its red hot!I just love to stand and watch.
Sometimes I miss the fun by being behind the lens but I always have the shots to look back on to remind me of the memories. And its something you never forget once seen…

Just look how close he is on the pan to the F-15 taking off....
I should imagine you can feel the intense heat coming from those afterburners.I have never been that close as yet I so would love to be.Base visit last friday was amazing as usual, Did loads of things even had a talk on the Birds pf prey that keep the jets safe around the airfield on Launch and landing, Was very interesting really what happens and what precautions they take to keep safe. This actual photo was taken from fence view on launching from runway...
It was quite chilly on the day but it meant less heat haze from the runway which is good .
