Its been a while since we walked past the post box with the knitted toppers. But last week we walked past and noticed a new one. We were trying to guess what it would be as we approached.
But of course, it could only be the Olympic Games 2024, which is being held in Paris. It starts on 26 July. I will be dipping in and out of it over the time it is one. I especially like watching the athletics. The topper features the famous Olympic rings, which represent the union of the five continents and the meeting of athletes from throughout the world.

Last week, we celebrated our youngest Golden Retriever Sams third birthday. Even though hes three years old, he still acts like a puppy, as if everything is still new to him.
For his birthday, he got a giant teddy bear, which we named Big Bertha.
He absolutely loves her, but shes so big that she has to sit in the other room. Sam drags her into his bed by her ear, and its really sweet to see. I couldnt get a decent picture of him with Bertha, but heres one of him posing nicely for me. Happy 3rd birthday, little Sam!

On Wednesday, our oldest granddaughter, Jessica, had her prom night. She and her friends gathered at one of the girls houses and then drove to the prom venue in a red Cadillac.
They all looked stunning in their prom dresses, and Jessica looked beautiful and happy in her glittery purple lace gown.
They took lots of fabulous pictures, including some with the car. It was tough to choose one for my news story, but I love this photo where she looks serene and beautiful.
She worked so hard on her exams, so she truly deserved to have a fantastic prom night.

We havent been to the beach for a few weeks as poor little Sam has had a skin allergy. We got some medication from the vet and its finally cleared up. So as the weather is so glorious, we finally took the boys to the beach again!
They played on the sand and sniffed the sand dunes, and then suddenly, Sam remembered the sea! He looked so happy as he ran towards it and splashed straight in and lay down. Then Billy joined him for a paddle. Then back home to dry off in the shade in the garden. What a great way to cool down on a hot day.

Last week it was our first oldest granddaughters 16th Birthday! How the time has flown. She is a lovely girl, very clever, caring, and sweet. She had a fun-packed weekend planned, starting with a meal out with us on her actual Birthday.
Then a karaoke party with her friends the next day. Followed by a dinner with her other grandparents the day after. Then the next day, she took her final exam before leaving school for the last time.
She still has her prom to look forward to, then a lovely summer break before she starts college, which she is very excited about.
Here she is in the sunglasses we bought her as one of her presents. Happy 16th Birthday Jessica!
