A few weeks ago we took our grandchildren Mia and Jack to Sands End near Whitby for the day. Its a fabulous beach for children as there is a shallow stream running into the sea from the hills behind.
The children have great fun building a dam from sand so that the stream forms a paddling pool complete with ducks!
Mia and Jack loved playing in the sand and water. Grandad bought them a small inflatable dingy from the nearby shop to pull them around in. Here is a photo of Mia and Jack playing in the boat.
You can see from Jacks hair that there is a cool breeze blowing and the water was quite cold but it didn't seem to bother them :) Here are two of my latest designs which I thought I would share with you :)
Last month we spent a few days on the Yorkshire Coast. Our son and his family were also staying in Filey for the week. We took our grandchildren Mia and Jack out for a day to give their parents a child free day and some much needed peace and quiet.
We took them to Sands End near Whitby to play on the beach. There was a river running down to the sea and all the children built a dam so it formed a large paddling pool.
It was so funny when anyone got food and sandwiches out because they were instantly swamped by ducks.
Here is a picture of our Jack eating his sandwich surrounded by ducks. The camera only captured a few birds as there must have been at least 50 around him. As you can see from his face he was very amused! Here are a couple of my latest designs which I thought I would share with You
Last week our son and his family were on holiday in Filey on the Yorkshire Coast. We went and joined them for a few days so we could spend sometime with our grandchildren on the beach.
We had a lovely time making sandcastles and paddling in the sea.
Here is a photo of me with my grand babies Mia aged 8 & Jack aged 3. We had just had an evening meal at the Italian restaurant in Filey and we went into the memorial garden next door to take some photos :) Here are two of my latest designs which I thought I would share with you :)
When we were on holiday in Skiathos we went on a trip to visit the dog shelter up in the hills above Troulos.
The center was started by British expats who felt sorry for all the stray dogs that used to roam around the island.
Every dog is cared for and has a permanent home there. Some of the lucky ones find homes in other European countries after holiday makers fall in love with them. It's easy to adopt a dog from abroad theses days and you can adopt a dog from the Skiathos dog centre for £350.
This includes the price of vaccinations and the air fare to fly them to your nearest airport. We met a lovely little Beagle at the shelter and I have just heard he has arrived at his new forever home in Beverly, Yorkshire.

We have just come back from a fabulous two week holiday in Skiathos. One of the highlights of the holiday was going on a Mama Mia cruise around the island of Skopelos which was used for filming some scenes in the movie.
We stopped at the beach next to the church Agios Loannis Kastri which was used for filming the wedding scenes.
The church stands on top of a rock which is linked to to the island through a narow rocky path. 110 steps are carved out of the rock and it's quite a steep climb.
At first I was just going to take pictures from below as I hate steep steps but then hubby said lets give it a try.
Well I managed to get up there eventually and it was well worth the climb as the views where amazing.
The inside of the church was obviously not used for filming as it was a tiny square room.
No seats and just enough room for the stand to place your lighted candles in. You certainly couldn't fit a congregation and a donkey in there lol Here are two of my latest designs which I thought I would share with you :)
