Our beloved Gem went to the Rainbow Bridge 3 weeks ago. she collapsed at home and was rushed round to the vets.
A scan showed she had a massive tumour on her spleen that was bleeding. There was no choice but to have her PTS.
It was such a shock and although she was nearly 12 we expected at least another two or 3 years with her as Cairns live on average to about 15/16 yrs.
Then within two days of Gem's death a close relative died in Tenerife and we had to fly out straight away to attend the funeral.
It's not been a good few weeks :( The good news is this weekend we go collect our new Cairn puppy 'Millie' from Wales so there will be plenty of news stories about her in the coming weeks :) She can't replace our precious little Gem but she will mend a big hole in our hearts.

Last weekend we went to the Belbroughton Scarecrow Festival. It takes place the last weekend in September. This year the theme was 'Icons From History' It had everthing from a bar of Cadbury Chocolate to Elvis!
Belbroughton is a lovely little village and lots of the residents take part by displaying some fantastic straw creations in their gardens.
It's a real fun day out with lots of stalls and attractions in the nearby fields. Can you guess who this scarecrow is? Of course its Marilyn Monroe! Here are two of my latest designs which I thought I would share with you :)
On our recent trip to Venice we took a ride in a Gondola. It was lovely and relaxing as we were taken around the canals of Venice. The Gondolier (man operating the boat) gave us a history lesson along the way and pointed out the buildings of interest.
Everything in Venice is done on the water as there are no cars. The people travel around on water buses, ambulances and police have boats with flashing blue lights. Even the refuse collections are done by boat Here are two of my latest designs which I thought I would share with you :)
We have just arrived home from spending a few days in Venice. What a beautiful place it is. There are bridges and canals galore not to mention the old historic buildings. It was very busy on the tourists routes but when you got away from the crowds it was delightful.
We walked for miles every day and often got lost but it was all good fun! With an abundance of bars and restaurants around every corner we certainly didn't go hungry or thirsty on our travels :) Here are two of my latest designs which I thought I would share with you
This Summer we had our main annual holiday on the beautiful Greek island of Skiathos. One of the highlights of the holiday was a yacht trip around the nieghboring island of Skopelos. This island as well as a little bit of Skiathos was used in the film Mama Mia.
We swam off the boat and snorkled while the crew prepared a meal for us an the other 3 couples who were on the boat with us.
