News & Updates from Janet Briggs

Just like to say a big thank you to everyone who took the time to cast votes in this year's Designer of the Year competition. With such strong competition, I was highly surprised but delighted to be awarded 2nd place this year. Huge well done to Sandie Burchell and Robyn Cockburn on their trophies too and all the other designers who work so hard to bring new designs to the site. Thank you to everyone who has purchased my designs throughout 2014 and also to those who have uploaded beautiful cards, which help to promote sales.
All your support is much appreciated. Thank you also to CUP for the trophy, it's lovely. I even braved the snow to have my photo taken with it, as it is so dull inside at the moment.
Here are two of my newest designs.
The Crumbs one is my favourite this month.

During our last trip to Scarborough, North Yorkshire, we came across this statue which I hadn't seen before. It depicts a smuggler and his apprentice, carrying barrels and is situated in a great location, overlooking the harbour. The statue was created by artist, Ray Lonsdale and is made of steel.
It has a beautiful patina.

Well we've just had our last trip of the year away to North Yorkshire in the caravan :0( Whitby was full of street entertainment last weekend. We were lucky enough to see this magician and escapologist entertaining the crowds.
He was swallowing swords and performing his escapology act. His performance was hilarious, a really funny guy. I have added several new Christmas designs this week. Here are just a couple.

During a recent visit to Whitby, we saw this old sailing ship, moored in the harbour. This wooden ships called Reaper and was built in 1901. It spent much of it's life herring fishing around the Shetlands. It is now been restored and the public can go on board to view what life was would have been like for the 8 men crew in the early 1900's.

As I was working on my computer yesterday, I saw this cheeky little fellow out of the corner of my eye.
He ran across the top of the garden wall, across the front garden and headed straight for the apple tree where we have a bird feeder full of nuts! The photo isn't the best, because it was raining and taken through the window, but I couldn't resist capturing him as he sat perched, deciding how he was going to get the nuts out of the feeder.
