We have just returned from a fabulous holiday in the Caribbean. We went on the P & O ship Adonia. First landing in Barbados, then visiting Guadaloupe, Bequie, St Lucia, Grananda, Martinique and St Kitts.
I love the formal evenings as they are a good excuse to dress up in a posh frock . The food is always very good, they only thing is I ate too much of it so now it is back to a diet as soon as Christmas is over.
I have been busy recently organising an exhibition for one of the art groups I belong to. There are about 30 of us now and we have only been together for a couple of years but the standard of the artwork is great.
The best thing about it is that all our members are so nice and friendly and all pull together to put events like this on for the local community.
It was a lovely day last Sunday so we went for a drive to Cholmondeley Castle ( you say Chumley if you are a local ) .
We were told the trees were beautiful in the Autumn.
It was the last time it was open this year and as we have never been there before we thought we would pay it a visit.
As you can see from the photo the trees are quite striking in their autumnal colours.
Last weekend my art group called Mellor Art Society had their annual art exhibition. I started up this group sixteen year ago with a group of friends and it has been very successful.
It is very nice to look around some evenings when we paint and see so many people busy painting and going about a hobby they enjoy.
Better still when we have exhibitions to show the public what we have been up to and to encourage more people to join.
This year I have had a change and I have been doing some calligraphy on top of paintings.Here are my exhibits.
We recently spent a few days on the beautiful island of Jersey. We visited some of the many sights to see around the island, like the tunnels used as a hospital during WW2.
We came across this steam clock in St Helier, steam driven and mounted on a full size replica of the first steam powered paddle steamer on the island of Jersey.
Unfortunately it is not working at the moment but interesting to look at.
