It has been raining for days, very depressing. Now it has finally stopped so we went for a ride out to one of our favourite places to visit, Bodnant Gardens in North Wales.
No matter what time of year we go there are always flowers in bloom.
This visit was no exception, all the camellias were in bloom. Unfortunately my photo isnt very good but the red rhododendron was beautiful and a lot of spring flowers were out.
We will be visiting again soon when the magnolias will be in flower and the azaleas. Something to look forward to.
What a beautiful day last Sunday was, first proper sunshine of the year here in the North West of the UK.
So we (my husband and myself) went for one of our favourite drives up to Llandudno in North Wales.
As you can see from the photo the sun was shining and the air was clear, although I must say the wind was rather chilly.
Lets hope it is the start of good weather to come. Its a long time since we have had a really good summer.
On our recent escape from the bad weather to Tenerife we visited the capital city of Santa Cruz and came across some beautiful gardens.
We had lunch in a lovely cafe and walked around admiring the hard work of the local gardeners.
The photograph shows only two of these magnificent archways of orange bougainvillea but there were about ten of them altogether, they looked fabulous.
I wish I could grow these plants where I live but unfortunately it is too cold.
I looked out of my window to see my neighbours getting into a taxi with suitcases, it was snowing heavily.
I went into the living room and told my husband. Thats a great idea he said looking out of the window at the deep snow and more falling down.
So he ran upstairs to the computer and booked us a holiday. The day after we were in Tenerife and here I am in the photo tucking into some pork ribs and drinking wine having a great time.
What can I say but, thank you very much , to my husband for getting me out of such cold weather.
My nearest big city is Manchester where Chinese New Year was being celebrated last weekend. It was great fun to see the big Chinese dragon wind its way from the Town Hall to the big Chinese Pagoda in the centre of the city.
The parade went on all afternoon with various side shows and street markets culminating with a firework display which was really great.
In my photo you can see another big gold dragon which was on display. We treated ourselves to a Chinese lunch. A great day which was most enjoyable.
