News & Updates from Carol Clarke

…. Youngest Son, Paul Wright was, representing The United Kingdom & competing in the European 800 metres masters race in Torun, Poland this week.
We were able to watch his heat live on YouTube on Monday, and we were also able to watch the final live on Tuesday!
Ohh myyy getting the right YouTube livestream was rather worrying … but …. Once Id got it set up and started the screen recording I could almost relax! lol Paul led both the heat and the final …. and is now the European Masters Gold Medalist!, ummmm ….
I might just be a bit of a proud Mum at the moment! Lol

… youngest granddaughter, Olivia, was competing in the English 800 metres final … she came 1st in her heat and 4th in the final, but as the the race was a combined England/Scotland race and the girl who finished 3rd was competing for Scotland Olivia is now the English bronze medalist!
Not only that but in the heats on Saturday she got a new PB (personal best) … and yet another PB in the final too!!
Her dad, my youngest son, is also a runner … and hes competing this weekend ….
Hes won many medals and is the reining European silver medalist in his age group, and hes competing this weekend in the qualifying races for that event this year, Ill update this with my news next week! lol

…Youngest granddaughter, Olivia age 13, was competing in the 800 metres race at the National Indoor Championships at Sheffield this weekend.
We were lucky that we could watch the races live on YouTube … Olivia is great at pacing herself.
Shes been running and competing for many years now and her Dad, my youngest son, is a medal winning runner too so hes helped with her training too.
Olivia always hangs back quite a way when she races so we werent surprised she was way behind the leader for most of the race … but then she did her signature acceleration, going into the front … and won the race by a country mile!
Im writing this on Saturday 7th Feb and the final is tomorrow … so Ill update the final results next week!

…. Had a lovely day with our youngest grandson lat weekend. Austin who is 11 next month, and hes the youngest of our six grandchildren, (our oldest is over 30! lol) Ohhh but did we have fun!
Out came the Lego and the board games ( a few years ago II made huge boards out of a new TV box and painted stones as the counters) but we had the most hilarious time playing with a pink balloon! lol

…. Youngest son and my youngest granddaughter (father & daughter! Lol) are both medal winning runners! They both had new running spikes. Last year Olivia persuaded her Dad to buy tiny flat back crystals and they came to our house so I could help with bejewelling her spikes.
This year her dad (my son Paul) decided he was going to have jewels on his spikes too! Ohhh boyyy did we have fun! You wont believe how time consuming and fiddly it is to put them exactly where they wanted them. Several hours later and the spikes were put to dry …. I must admit they really did look good!
Paul will be representing the UK in Poland again soon, he got the silver medal in 2024 …. When he was in the final year of his age group …. This time hell be one of the younger runners!!
