Ed-g the Letter g
Stitching with beads
Photographs from the Community
I have made this card for my friend Glenda as a thank you for the many kindnesses she has shown me.
I copied the design onto 170gsm white satin smooth card cut at 14x9cm.
I have used a glitter metallic thread in a bright pink, mauve shade to stitch the letter G and then added the 6 tiny, 2.5mm, round pearls.
I have used glitter metallic thread in pale green to stitch the curves representing the stems for the flowers.
For the leaves and buds, I have used a combination of 4 metallic iridescent green, purple 7mm rice beads, 2 smaller 5mm same colour metallic rice beads and 6 tiny green glass seed beads.
For the flowers I have used 12 gold 5mm metallic rice beads which I have coloured with a metallic purple pen, and allowed them to dry for several hours before attaching them with a purple metallic thread which I have used double as the metallic beads sometimes cut the metallic thread.
For the centre of each of these flowers I have used a tiny pearl bead.
To complete the project, I have edge the finished work with the same purple pen I used to colour the beads and secured the stitching with magic tape and the mauve ribbon across the back 3cm up from the bottom edge, before attaching the 15x9.75 cm pale green backing sheet which I then attached to the 15.5 x10.25cm bottle green backing sheet using red power tape in both instances.
I attached the silver peel off strips, which I have coloured with a mauve permanent pen before I secured the ribbon tails at the back of the green backing sheet and used the red power tape to attach this completed topper to the 16x11cm, dark purple white spot card front.
I have attached the bow and the coloured purple peel off hat which I have backed with pale green and added a tiny purple pearl, as extra embellishments.
I will add the insert photographs later in the week. Pamela Horton. The Whispering Platypus.
