Stitching with beads

Thank you Emy, for another inspirational sewing design for this card topper, I have completed the card front using a black thread, and a mixture of aqua coloured beads, and then added 2 cats, I have drawn in a zentangle style. I cut a textured white card at 13 x 12 cm and centred the design before pricking the pattern. The thread is matt pure cotton, and as I find that although the cotton thread does not twist quite as much as the polyester thread, it is a little more difficult to use with a card that is textured, so I used some bees wax to keep the thread smooth. I used a few more beads than were indicated, as I wanted to brighten the card front a little more. I used 4 round 6mm glass faceted beads, that I attached to silver flower spacers and sealed the top with a very tiny aqua glass seed bead, and 1 round 6mm glass faceted bead, that I attached to a silver flower shaped spacer, without the tiny seed bead on top. I used 4 pearl finished aqua 6mm rice beads, 1 tiny round glass bead and 11 aqua glass 2mm seed beads. In total I used 25 beads and 5 flower shaped spacers. I drew a log and coloured it with spectrum noir pens. It measures 7cm long and 7mm wide. I drew the cats larger than this size and reduced them to measure 7cm in height. I had intended to add the coloured ones I had made, however they looked out of place and I feel much happier with staying with the black and white images. I mounted the topper onto a patterned sheet and then onto a textured black card front which measures 15 x 14 cm, using D.S tape. I used silver peel off strips I have coloured in aqua with a permanent pen, to surround the main white topper, and a black peel off strip to attach around the edges of the patterned backing sheet. For the insert, I used a striped pale pink and aqua backing sheet and attached strips of the same patterned backing sheet as I used on the card front, and attached lengths of this around the edges to make a frame, using tiny spots of white glue. I attached some aqua peel off strips and attached the verse number 3a from cup846611_9035, and left the right hand side for my personal message. This card will have many uses, as the border can be printed off in different sizes, and be stitched in many shades, with beads added to contrast or to blend. The space in the centre can then be used for whatever theme the occasion or celebration requires. I know I will use it many times.
