Ed020 Christmas Tree
Stitching with beads

I absolutely love Christmas trees and decorating them, so thank you, Emy van Schaik, for this beautiful design. I began with a white card cut at 15 x 11.5cm, and after making sure the design was in the centre and then pricking the design I used a dry forest green pencil from my water colour set to shade lightly the area of the Christmas tree. I used a green polyester thread for the main stitching, and completed this before beginning the metallic gold stitching. I used a red polyester thread to attach all the red beads. I have used 51 tiny round red metallic beads and 21red metallic 0.5mm rice beads. I then used the gold metallic thread doubled, to sew the star, the gold stitching at the top of the tree and to attach the 3 metallic gold 0.5mm rice beads. I then thought nothing ventured nothing gained and continued to embellish the tree with a single thread of gold stitched on an angle, 5 times, catching it on either side and once in the middle. I then added 5 gold sequins and 3 green sequins, with each one hanging on a gold thread. I made 2 little parcels tied with the red and gmold thread, some sparkle at the top of the star, a gold peel off sentiment and a red bow which I then attached with red power tape. I defined the edge with a red permanent pen and using D.S. tape attached it to a bright green backing sheet cut at 16 x 12.5cm and using the same tape attached the topper to the card front, which measures 17 x 13.5cm. I haven’t as yet completed the insert and will add this at a later time when it is completed. I am so thrilled with this beautiful busy looking Christmas greeting card. I will make this again when I obtain come dark purple beads, and sew the tree in silver, as this is another colour combination I like for a Christmas tree. This one is definitely a traditional looking tree. Pamela Horton. The Whispering Platypus.
I have made 2 more of this beautiful traditional cards to pot for 2021 and have posted the photographs below. I love this traditional design and still have plans for other colour combinations. Pamela Horton
