Tawny Frogmouth Owl

We have these interesting owls where we live and i love photographing them. This one i captured on film the other day,a pair of them were roosting above my chook pen and were woken up by a bit of a ruckus.

He politely asked us to keep it down, thus alerting me to his presence. I said i was very sorry and he ended up with a mouse breakfast (from the trap in the chook pen).

Jumpers And Jazz In July

Our trees are all dressed to keep them warm! Our annual event is going well, we have missed the lockdown that had affected much of South East Queensland and it is good to see the visitors come to town.

There was a good turn-out for the display of vintage cars on the weekend but the ground was soggy in the park so our J&J markets this weekend have been moved out of the park.

Good Weather For Ducks!

Our wet weather continues here. The dam is full, the pond is full and all the water tanks are full which is good.

The subsoil is wet so every drop we get now runs off so even the 23 mm we had today made a torrent of our driveway and our bottom road has been underwater now for a week.

The council had only just been and fixed it from the big lot of rain we had earlier in the year.

Dont get me wrong, Im not complaining! It means our underwater aquifers are full again which is good for the farmers who need it.

We have had a few frosts but overall it is still not too wintery but is getting cold next week, just in time for our Jumpers and Jazz festival where we dress up all the cold trees who have lost their leaves.

My cards today are two of my new ones. Hope you like them!

The Wattles Are Flowering!

It is very pretty on my road (and in my yard) as the wattles are flowering well.

They dont mind the cold weather. As you can see there is still some green grass, the frosts have been mild so far (in saying that last time we had amild winter we then had a week of -5 to -7 degrees which torched everything well into spring).

Even the bougainvillea and my geishagirl are still happy. After years of drought it is so nice to see everything thriving!

DinoRoar Party

We attended a lovely surprise party for our 2 year old grandson. As his first birthday was celebrated during our covid lockdown it was the perfect way to celebrate this year.

Going with the chosen theme i made a dinosaur card for him (I think this would be the first time i have ever drawn a dinosaur!).

His parents and godfather dressed up as dinosaurs as well which he thought was great. A lovely party ensued with him roaring at everyone.

He had been watching Grandpa building something outside and when they opened the doors and he saw that it was a sandpit for him he was so delighted he clapped.A very enjoyable day for all.
