Christmas

Our Christmas was celebrated on Christmas Eve for family. This being due to parents having their kids who then had to go to the other parent on Christmas Day.

First of, we had a lovely lunch at my sons place with his wife, son and his sister and her partner and kids.

Thought it might have had to quickly be moved indoors when a storm rolled through as we were about to sit down.

But it passed quickly and lunch was served about 15 minutes later than planned.

Then it was a quick trip home to get changed and head down to hubbys sons place. Our granddaughter who lives with us took us down and we managed to get through the evening/night with no further storms although they had put warnings out for severe storms.

It was a hectic but wonderful day and come Christmas Day it was a quiet day at home with just the grand daughter and her partner.

I hope everyone had a wonderful Christmas with their loved ones. This weeks designs have a journaling feel with several sentiments given to place in the middle

Santas Practice Run.

Tonight (Thursday) we had an awesome sight in our sky around 8pm. Starlink satellites were launched early this morning and made two passes over Australia tonight. It was amazing to see and must say never seen anything like it before.

I have seen the Starlinks before after theyve broken up and spread out. Although it was posted on several sites on Facebook, a lot of people didnt see then and a lot asked what they were.

Besides the actual answer of Starlink the best answers seem to be Santa doing a practice run. Of course the kids will be happy with that answer!

Apparently Santa is doing another practice run tonight as well!! This weeks designs are a set of Flamingo toppers and a set of Australian Floral notelets.

Christmas Tree

This year we were going to decorate a tree in the front yard and put it in the Community Christmas Lights Competition.

Last year the tree that won it was the only tree entered with two strings of purple lights.

We didnt know there even was a competition last year so this year we decided decorate and enter a bottle brush tree in the front yard.

We went and brought decorations and a couple of boxes of lights only to find out they scrubbed the tree category this year.

Anyway the grand daughter said wed decorate it anyway so last weekend very reluctantly we threw some tinsel around, hung the big baubles and the candy canes, bows and a stocking on the tree.

We actually didnt even use all the stuff we brought. In the daylight it looks good (except for the high bit we couldnt be bothered doing) with the sun on the tinsel and decorations.

Night time it doesnt look as good even with the lights.

We also put some strings of lights across the front of the house and coloured ones along the hedges. Looks pretty but hard to show the night lights. Just waiting for a storm to come and wreck it now!! So far weve been lucky and not even had rain. This weeks designs are perfect for Birthdays, New Year or even a retirement.

What A Week

We have had storms, severe storms every day this week. Temperatures during the day have been in high 30s, today it got to 38.6 deg C which has fuelled these storms.

Monday was the worst day and although the storm was quite fierce we only got small hail.

My daughter on the other hand had her car smashed by tennis ball size hail. Her partner had her unit empty ready for new tenants but the hail went through the tiles in the roof.

One of the photos they sent through reminds me of Dick Strawbridges words… you arent supposed to see the sky through your roof!

Well one can now………in several places.

Grand daughter got hail damage to her new car when the strap on her (brand new) hail cover broke and the cover flew back.

On the northside Bribie Island got hit hard and 5 days later they still dont have power from the damage.

Every day there has been these severe storms with big hail, huge winds and heavy rain.

Someone has really upset Mother Nature and we arent even into summer and storm season yet. So far weve been extremely lucky with streets only a couple of streets over getting hammered. Friday so they say, will be a reprieve but storms return on Saturday. This week my designs are DL Trifold cards. My sale is also on till the end of the month.

New Babies

Spring is the season when we see all sorts of babies. Weve had magpies, butcher birds, rosellas, galahs, plovers and this year Bush stone curlews.

Normally we will hear the curlews with their high pitched screech (sounds like a woman screaming) at night but normally dont see them with their babies.

Last week we had mum and two babies right up near the house. Dad comes at night and early morning to steal the food thrown out for the magpies. Curlews are ground dwellers and often are hard to spot as they hide in long grasses or clumps of trees.

They are nocturnal birds so for mum, bubs and dad to be up so close to the house in the morning is pretty cool.

They normally have one to three eggs in their breeding season. One thing I didnt know, if something like another bird or a human gets too close they actually hiss. Weve only ever heard their screeching through the night. Check out all my Anniversary designs.
