As you read last week my daughter and I went to Sydney for 3 days a couple of weeks ago now.
After seeing my birth Mother we hopped on a train at Granville and headed into Circular Quay.
First thing we saw was Royal Caribbeans Anthem of the Seas that had docked that morning. She is massive! Starting to wander round towards the Opera House there was a First Nations father and son playing the didgeridoo and the son had clapsticks.
We continued to round to the Opera House and its the first time Ive seen it since it was being built.
Got the photos of it and the famous Harbour bridge, then back to a harbourside café for lunch. Interesting to see they have gull patrols …a person with a dog to chase the sea gulls away from diners.
As we were walking back to get a ferry to Manly, there was this street performer who wriggled his way into sitting in thin air. (levitating).
People were looking at him from every angle trying to work out how he was doing it. We then went for a 20 min ferry trip over to Manly to see the sights of Sydney from the water.
We then took the return ferry back to Circular Quay but we had to wait for the Anthem of the Seas as she headed out for a 7 day cruise.
The harbour shuts down while they navigate out and we had to wait while she went. We then hopped on the train back to Granville to go back to the hotel. Very tired but had a great day. This weeks designs are two new Easter designs.
These are religious designs for those that dont want Easter Eggs.
Those who read my news wouldve seen that I recently went over to babysit my daughters house, dogs, cat and fish while they were in Japan.
Her and her partner were so grateful that I spent the 10 days there that to say thank you my daughter booked a 3 day trip to Sydney, primarily to see my birth mum but also to see cousins and the sights of Sydney.
We flew down just on dark on the Thursday and the sunset from the sky was beautiful. Due to daylight savings, on landing they are an hour ahead of us, so by the time we picked up the car we didnt get to the hotel till 11pm.
First thing Friday morning we headed off to see Mum. We brought some flowers on the way. It was not one of her better days unfortunately so after having a bit of a chat and a coffee with her, we headed off to see the sights of Sydney just before lunch time.

Literally its hot! Weve had a heatwave over most of Australia the past week with temperatures in some places nudging the 50deg C mark.
Weve had a couple of days at home where it has hit 42 deg C, a couple at 40deg C but to be honest doesnt feel much different day to day…….. its just HOT.
As a firefighter its days like this (photo) where you really hope there isnt a fire call. Fires where the humidity is lower than the temperature are always bad. Quite often there is a hot wind from the west and fires burn hot, fast and run.
Thankfully no fires around here but there is some very bad huge fires in Victoria that have proven very difficult to contain.
They are getting over 40 deg C temps down there too. Not much of the country isnt getting this heat. Then we see the reports of the freezing weather over seas and just a little bit of me says……..wouldnt that be nice!

The other night my daughter introduced her partners kids to a good Aussie favourite, the jaffle. Jaffles are an Aussie icon and as well as being a favourite that can be cooked on preferably a gas stove, it is a must when out camping.
They cooked over a fire pit in the back yard. I believe its called a toastie in other parts of the world, but here it is the good old jaffle.
Cooked in a cast iron jaffle maker, you butter the outside of the bread, put your favourite filling on, put the bread on like a sandwich and put it into the jaffle maker.
Some of the favourite fillings here are ham, cheese and tomato (onion can be added if desired), mince and cheese and my favourite is tinned braised steak and onion.
But really you can put anything you like on them.
Just have to be careful when you take off the heat because the filling is very hot. Many a burnt mouth has happened when taking that first bite!
The kids had fun and loved them so I think there will be many more backyard camping done so they can cook some more.Todays designs are Crystal Roses and would make for a very pretty card when you need a Quick card top by just adding a sentiment.
Yes Im still baby sitting a house, 2 dogs, 1 cat and 2 fish. These photos are them! Theyve become my shadows and follow me everywhere.
Well except the fish but if I go near the tank they are at the front and Ive got instructions to talk to them every day.
I do. The cat gets quite annoyed when Im a bit slow at going and sitting on the lounge to watch a TV show I watch, as she loves cuddling up to me for the afternoon.
So while Im here in 35 degs the family is off frolicking in Shiga Kogan with 113cm (44 inches) of fresh lovely powdered snow.
They are due home tomorrow and it will be a bit of a shock to their system when they walk out of the airport into the humidity and heat.
This babysitting caper is like having kids again.
Feed time, play time, poo patrol, keep the water full for them…..Im loving it. This weeks designs are Valentine Day toppers and a lovely swan design.
