We have been doing big cleanouts/tidyups in the house and packing a fair bit of stuff away with the eventual intention of selling and moving (yes!

Why the house gets painted now after all this time) and as I hadnt made up any cards for a while, I decided to get into the back room, my craft room, and sort that out.

All the tools, ribbons, glues, etc are in plastic boxes in the cupboard now but for some brilliant reason, I decided to pack all my card stock, coloured card etc in boxes and only left out white paper and 120 and 200 gsm white card stock out.

So murphys law kicked in and I needed to make two very special cards and only had white card to use.

First was a card for my daughter to celebrate her 10 years since graduating with the police force. Shes also just been appointed her Detective position also so incorporated the gold into the card. Detectives get a gold badge.

Then sadly my son and his family had to send their beloved Milo over the Rainbow Bridge so wanted to send them a card for that.

So it was use what I had and hope they turned out OK. What do you think?

Last week I posted how we have been waiting to start painting the house. Well…….. yayyyy……. We no longer live in Kermit Cottage.

The weather eased up and Wednesday we had a lovely fine day, sunny, nottoo hot, and almost no wind/breeze, so we hooked into prepping early (covering windowsand doors etc) and by about 10.30 in the morning we fired up the spray gun and paint started hitting the walls.

Had a 20min lunch break and kept going. By 4.30pm we had the eastern, northern and western sides of the house close to done.

There was one strip on the very front of the house that couldnt be done with the gun, so I got up and painted that by brush this afternoon.

So now with a couple of touch ups with the paintbrush this afternoon all thats left to do now is the white ceiling under the patio and the eaves at the end of the house.

So glad we had the spray gun because to paint with a brush wouldve taken a lot longer than a day!

I am so happy with how its looking and it was such a good feeling to finally getting it done.

Just got the southern side of the place to go now but winds supposed to be moving in again bytomorrow (Friday) but it shouldnt take long to do……..the prep takes the longest covering the windows etc.

Fingers crossed we can get it finished before the yuk weather happens again.

We have spent the last few weeks replacing boards and washing down the house so that finally we can repaint the place.

After 14 years we are getting round to do it as when we brought the place one of the first things I wanted was to repaint the place as I hate green and I said I wasnt living in Kermit cottage.

Well life happened and it kept getting put off but it is all go now to get it done. However sometimes things never go according to plan.

Off we went and got the paint as weve had some lovely weather, not too hot, not too cold, no wind and sunny days (no rain) and then what happens, the wind and patchy showers.

So now it gets put off yet again. Hopefully in the next couple of weeks we will get back to calm sunny weather and it will get done.

Cant wait to get started and then finished to see how it will look.

The Royal Australian Mint released a commemorative $2 coin in October 2020, twelve months after the devastating fires that swept throughout Australia in the 2019/2020 h season to honour our firefighters.

I have wanted one of these coins but never found one in change from the limited number of coins released.

Using a strong and semi symmetrical design aesthetics, the coin highlights the hero statues that firefighters hold in the community.The new coin design includes stylised representation of two firefighters standing back to back, with a coloured fire ball in the centre of the coin.

The identity of the two firefighters is hidden but the figure on the right is shown as masculine and the figure on the left as feminine as a symbol of the diversity within Australias firefighting ranks.Our neighbour buys uncirculated coin rolls and sells these coins individually and when hubby commented that we hadnt yet found one, he kindly gave me one.

Yipee, so happy to finally have one.

Last weekend was a long weekend being Monday is the Labour Day Holiday/MayDay so car enthusiasts make the most of it and all come to Hervey Bay for what is known as May in the Wide Bay.

Run by Wide Bay Rodders Custom Car Club, this is annual event and even though the name suggests hot rods all custom cars are welcome for this event.

The club has a very laid back social atmosphere where folks mix with like minded people and enjoy the camaraderie.This event has several parts to it with these gorgeous cars arriving throughout the week with it all kicking off on Friday night with a Welcome BBQ with live entertainment.

Saturday morning there is an Observation Run to show everyone around the local area.

Saturday afternoon sees the cars cruisin the Nard (cruising along the esplanade) from 3pm to 6pm where they cruise from one end of the esplanade, approx 6 klms one way, turn round and cruise back (several times) where they can show off their pride and joys and the people can just watch in awe at the various vehicles, supped up, paintwork and sometimes noisy machines.

Saturday night is usually spent at one of the local pubs for dinner. Then Sunday morning up early for the Show N Shine (570 cars) which went till about 2pm.

Sunday night there is a catered dinner and entertainment before some of them head home although many stay and holiday for a few days.

The weather wasnt kind to them this year and most of Saturday was raining but it did clear for Sunday, none the less the show still went on regardless.

It really is an awesome show and although its over for 2021, 2022 is greatly anticipated by both those taking part and the people of Hervey Bay.
