Balloons

Well we have made the move and are now in our new place. Lots of new and exciting things to see, find, experience and one of them was a big surprise on Sunday morning.

I knew that down this way they did hot air balloon flights a little further south but what a thrill to see them to the south of us just gliding through the skies.

We saw three of them, there may have been more, seemingly barely moving across the sky. I only had my phone so quality isnt great but still, I was happy to have snapped a couple of them in some of the photos.

Some things are still the same as they were when we left this area nearly 20 years ago but there has also been a lot of development also.

But it does feel like weve come home. Its been great seeing the kids and grandkids nearly every day, we have missed them so much.

Farewell

Well and of an era when hubby sold the boat last weekend. Weve had it since we were in Bowen where she was out on the water a couple of times a week.

Since being here she hasnt had as much use and has been sitting in the shed, so as hard as it was to let it go, we really dont get the use out of it.

Fortunately a lovely couple have purchased it and the day they picked it up, they drove up to where they live and had it in the water that afternoon.

They have a little girl and it reminded me of our grand daughter when she was about the same age as their little one and apparently she loved being out in it just like our Zoe did all those years ago.

Sad to see her go but someone else will now get many hours enjoyment out of her.

Wow!

Hervey Bay is the Whale Watching capital in Australia, know as that because from late July to September the humpback whales come and rest in the waters around Fraser Island on their migration from the warm tropical waters where they have their calves on the way back to the colder waters down south.

During this time the celebration of the whales being here, there is a lot of whale watching boats that go out daily, in fact most boats say if you dont see a whale then they will take you out again, but that rarely happens as most days visitors will see several pods as they breech and spy hop the boats.

So even Mother Nature celebrates with this spectacular photo of a whale cloud taken this week. How perfect a cloud is that?

So It Begins....

The joys of packing a whole house up and 2 sheds worth of stuff is a bit overwhelming. After 14 years in this beautiful piece of paradise we have sold our property and moving. Our hearts are torn at leaving but excitement for what the future will be.

We are moving to a smaller property closer to family. Weve missed so many milestones with the kids and grandkids and havent been able to be closer to support them with so many things and looking after 10 acres is going to be harder as we both grow older.

So smaller block close to family seemed like the way to go. There is a big problem with housing here as property goes on the market one day and within 24 hrs it is already under contract in most cases $40 or $50 over the asking price so getting a place has been a challenge.

But finally we have found a place and look forward to new adventures. Rather than leaving it till the last week to pack Im well on top of it and organised.

Love These Guys

I never get tired of having the skippys in the yard. They come right up to the house day and night and sometimes they are just grazing and lying around and other times its like the fight club around here.

These boys were resting up after a big night the night before. The two smaller ones were one pair and the two bigger ones were the other pair. Smaller ones were over to the left of the yard doing their boxing routine and the big boys were over the other side of the year doing theirs.

They use the whole front yard to box and often its nothing to hear a bang on the walls where one has been bailed up.

So used to it now that we know what it is but a few years ago we couldnt work out what it was till we saw it happen one day.

In the meantime the mummas and their joeys were hanging round the back yard having a feed.

They are such regulars now that we tend to worry a bit when we dont see them for a few days.

We know they are right down the back in the bush but often we wont see them, usually after rain when there is plenty of grass down the back for them to eat without having to go a little further afield.

This photo was taken from my kitchen window.
