Well the past week saw us get just on 100mm of rain. Its gone for a few days now but supposed to arrive again tomorrow (Friday) and despite a few very cold days one thing that isnt complaining is my garden.

My roses (my one rose bush that I havent managed to kill) has been flowering well. I love this rose bush as the buds come out a very deep bright pink, just not quite red, and open up to this gorgeous lavender pink petal with a hit of the darker pink on the edges.

The photos show the buds and the open bloom……….

They are just gorgeous. I struggle whether to cut and bring inside or leave them on the bush as they add a pretty bit of colour to the garden.

Those pots of gold! Weve had a rather wet start to our winter this year with 70mm of rain in June. Not all has been continual rain, most being patches of showers with the most in one day being 37mm.

In between the showers/rain weve had sunshine giving us some lovely rainbows. A few days ago we got this beautiful double rainbow which hubby got this photo of.

It did look like it touched down just up the road and I said to him that maybe we should go look for that elusive pot of gold that is supposed to be at the end of every rainbow.

We didnt so still havent been able to cash in that gold!

All around Australia, silos, water tanks are being painted with the most fantastic artwork.

Not only does it show what wonderful artists in this country but it is becoming a lifeline for towns and communities promoting tourism and boosting the economy for many places in regional places.As overseas travel is not an option and in a lot of states borders closed meaning holiday travel is also out of the question.

Aussies are being encouraged to holiday in their own state so people are travelling to places theyd not normally visit, therefore taking a trip to some out of the way places is becoming a godsend to places that have been affected by drought, fires and floods.

Australias Ultimate Road Trip – The Australian Silo Art Trail is being promoted with country murals, silos, water tank and interesting street art where nothing within 10klms of the city centre of the capital cities is part of the trail.

There are now thousands of these artworks around the country and more to come as some artists are now only doing this as a means of an income.

When travel restrictions are lifted, if you come to Australia I urge you to put The Australian Silo Art Trail on your must visit itinerary.

If you are an Aussie wanting a different experience take the trip and see these murals. They are truly breathtaking and youll help the economy in regional Australia.

Weve just had our first winter blast here with forecasters are saying plenty more to come yet. Around 10th June the first snow fell close to Queensland at Guyra and Ben Lomond. Glen Innes actually got snow as well.

These places are a couple of hours over the border into NSW. We werent immune to the cold and felt it here with temperatures dropping drastically also. Even the cat curled up in our bed for a few days.

For some of you snow isnt a big deal but here in Queensland its a big deal with people heading off to places like Guyra, just to see it.

I will one day unless I pluck up the courage to go full on and head off to the snowfields like Thredbo or Mt Buller which are further south.

Its on my bucket list!

At Guyra people gather (camping believe it or not) and then as the snow falls start they head over to the bowling green and wait.

Its actually become a yearly tradition with some people. This fall is the biggest fall in the area for about 16 years and was unexpected with good coverage by the second day.

A lot of disappointed people as they were hoping it would last into the weekend but by Friday night it had all but gone.

We are about to get another blast this weekend with bitterly cold SW winds coming in but snow isnt forecast.

My birthday was 1st June which just happens to be the first official day of winter here……… and I hate winter so its always a reminder that the cold is coming.

A couple of weeks ago I wrote about painting our house. Well finally it is finished. No more Kermit Cottage and the replaced boards and extension are all one colour.I have waited for this moment for years and so happy it is done now.

Its a wise house now too as the paint name is Knowledge! White base with black and a deep magenta tint just to take it off being a straight grey.

We were lucky to get it done because weve been hit with a real taste of winter and its been freezing overnight but fortunately days have been sunny and warm with not a lot of wind enabling us to get the back of the house done.

It doesnt look like our house now…. (kind of got use to it the old way) and Im thrilled to bits with its new look.
