On Monday my daughter came over and took hubby and myself over to Ikea. I have been trying to work out what cabinetry for the pantry and now that its ready to be painted next job will be to fit it out.

I had ideas for what I thought I wanted which was pretty basic but she said I should look at different brands, so off we went.

Well I saw so many variations on things Im back to square one now.

I didnt want any cupboard units preferring all drawers which wouldve been just 2 drawer units but I found what appeared to be 2 drawer units but they had a couple of hidden smaller drawers inside so that one could have cutlery in inner top drawer, serviettes etc in the second inner top drawer with plates in racks in the main part of the drawer and then the bottom drawer with serving trays/bowls etc.

Trouble is Ikea drawers are different widths to what I had planned so its back to the drawing board to work out what will fit where now.

They didnt have the corner pantry I wanted but I liked their straight pantry so now have to work out if could make that work.

Was great looking through the whole place but boy of boy…..its a lot of walking. When we finished we went to the cafeteria for lunch where hubby and I had the Swedish tradition of meatballs and mash.

On the side there was this red jam looking thing that was so delicious I cleaned up the rest that hubby left on his plate.

Ive since found out it was Ligonberry jam. I sure will be looking to see if it is sold here.

1st June saw me turn 70. So on Saturday 3rd June I celebrated with close family, my kids, their partners/wife and their kids and hubby of course.

We had a wonderful lunch at Pub Lane Tavern with great food and lots of laughs.

I was asked what I wanted for my birthday and spending time with the family is the only thing I wanted.

Hubby organized a little surprise with the cakes which were so yummo delicious. He had already given me an early birthday present which I wrote about a couple of weeks ago…. A new sewing machine.

My kids present to me is a couple of days out at Thredbo doing the whole snow experience but that isnt until the first week of August.

I did get a gift card (to buy some snow gear) and a lotto ticket which was a winner (not a lot but better than nothing).

So I felt totally spoilt. So it was a wonderful birthday all round.

Last Saturday Mondaze Media held another car show up at the local shopping centre. Called Saturdaze Big Day Out it was put on to raise money for the local Mens Shed.

Classic, vintage, and late model cars along with motorbikes, trucks, off road vehicles was a fantastic mix of some expensive pieces of machinery.

This show had I think the most motorbikes in one of these shows Ive seen for a while. Car shows are a regular thing around here with one being held at a minimum once a month. The work that goes into the cars is amazing.

Well Im planning well ahead for my Thredbo trip in the first week of August. My daughter (and son) are paying for me to have 3 days in the snow and being Ive never seen snow before, I had to get clothing suitable for the conditions.

I was given a gift card for Mothers Day by my son and his wife so guess what it straight on!

According to my daughter I now have what I need with my purchases and the big jacket she brought for me last year for my birthday.

I feel the cold terribly so I am a little worried but I think the excitement of it all will get the adrenalin pumping and rugging up in my new gear plus thermals and the fleecy lined leggings I purchased hopefully I wont notice the cold.

This trip is my 70th Birthday present from the kids. I am so excited about this trip because the first part will be really special before we head off to the snow.

The week we will be there they say is the best week for snow due to yearly weather patterns so should be plenty of snow.

Cant wait!

Hubby got me an early birthday present for my 70th birthday. Although my birthday isnt for a couple of weeks yet, we saw that Spotlight had a 50% off sale and they had machines listed.

I actually have two machines already, mine has jammed up and the one Ive been using was my Mums which she used when dressmaking and was more suited to fine materials.

All I seem to be using it for the last couple of years was to sew his jeans/pants up and it was a little difficult to do the heavy duty sewing.

So when he asked me to take the waist of his work pants in I said buy me a new machine for my birthday that will handle the heavy stuff.

So he did! This one is designed for heavy duty sewing but will handle the finer materials too. There were two models, this one and another that is the same bar it has a few extra fancy stitches.

As I havent used anything other than a straight stitch and a zig zag for years, this one will do the job.

Now I have no excuse to not fix his pants!!
