News & Updates from Vicki Avcin ~ AusCrafts · Page 26

We had fabulous neighbours when we lived in Hervey Bay and not only do we miss them as neighbours but good friends also.
Things have been tough for them last year with the illness and loss of Kyms beautiful old girl Bella.
Bella lived out her days with her foal, well she was all grown up, but Mum and daughter had the life and were spoilt rotten.
Bella had to cross the Rainbow Bridge in September last year and it broke Kyms heart. Then just before Christmas she found out that their pup had leukaemia and couldnt be treated.
Abbie was supposed to be her forever pup but sadly at 3 years old she too went to join Bella across the Rainbow Bridge.
Again heartbreak and I wanted to be able to do something that Kym had lasting memories of them both so I did up lovely poems for both of them, emailed them through and she got them printed out and framed.
She loved them and they will proudly be displayed in the lounge. I have done many more for people whove lost their furbabies and as much as I love doing them for someone, they love receiving them.

Last Friday Hubby and I went into Brisbane CBD for the first time in about 22 years. What an eye opener for a couple who grew up and worked in the city.
The tall buildings were just starting to be built in earnest when we left.
There were a few here and there but Brisbane is wall to wall tall buildings these days. Fortunately there is still a little bit of the old Brisbane dotted here and there between the new buildings.
We caught the train from Springfield into Central station so we could go to Births, Deaths and Marriages so hubby could get a full copy of his birth certificate which hell need when he applies for a passport.
I also asked about a full copy of our marriage certificate as the certificate given at the wedding is no longer considered as full for identification these days.
It is only classed as a token certificate to give the bride and groom on the wedding day.
So quick and easy and we had both in under 15 mins.We then got back on the train to go over to South Brisbane (across the river) to go to the Home Show at the Convention Centre.
Was interesting to find out about new products that we could consider doing the renovations to the house. When we finished there we got the train back to Roma St and changed trains to go back to Springfield.
So glad we trained it into the City as the traffic is crazy. The train trip was the first for hubby in over 22 years but I often used to get the Tilt Train from Hervey Bay when I came down to visit the kids.
I love train travel. Was quite the adventure…. Nanny and Poppys Big Day Out!

Our renovations on our house continue and Ive been frustrated by trying to work out how the kitchen and pantry will look.
Drawing it out on a piece of paper is one thing but trying to envisage what the end result will look like isnt as easy.
I have tried a couple of free kitchen design programs but figuring out how to use them is harder than I thought.
Today in a reno group Im in someone asked the question of what people use and Kaboodle offer one. Kaboodle is the name of the biggest flat pack cupboards here.
Weve done the kitchen in Hervey Bay with them and happy with the product and the after sales service and looking at using them again this time.
So I gave it a try, now might be me but took me a few goes to figure out how to manipulate things, but the biggest issue was not having size and type cupboards I want to fit in spaces so I just used their basics to try and get some idea of what both panty and kitchen might look like.
So the photos are somewhat what I want. Besides the stove being halfway into the hall behind it most things kind of slotted into place.
The pantry will have double the base and wall cupboard on the wall I have them on but at least I can visualise it a little more now.

26 years ago on Valentines Day my hubby and I had our very first date. It was a kind of by accident date as hubby was over at my place to help chaperone a party for one of the kids that was friends with our kids.
We had met each other a few weeks before when one of the kids friends had run the bush basher through a fence and one of hubbys kids said Dad works at a wire place, we will get him to come and fix the fence.
So he did and wed talked, found out through out the years our paths mustve passed each other many times and both our kids had gone to school together.
So Valentines Day was the first time wed actually hooked up. And the rest is history for us now.
Still together and married for 20 years come November this year. The flowers are what he gave me this year and my gift was his favourite, Chinese, with a big special fried rice for dinner.

Each year I eagerly await photos of the grandbabies first day at school, particularly the ones that live in Townsville as they are so far away.
I finally received a photo tonight of them and my heart just melts…….. they are so cute.
Bella is in Grade 2 this year and Clay is in Prep. School commenced on 23rd January this year.I still have yet to meet Clay and Bella although hubby has met them and we chat on the phone or facetime.
Cant believe where the time has gone it seems like yesterday they were babies.
Once we get the house renovated we plan on going up and spending some time with them. Mum says they are both loving school so thats great news too.
