Last week our Grandson Zac had his Year 12 Formal and Graduation. It was an honour and a privilege to be able to celebrate with him.On Wednesday the school hosts the family before the kids all board a bus to be taken to their formal.
The kids arrive in the fanciest cars and get out to walk the red carpet into the school quadrangle. Zac arrived in his Dads Mustang (Dad driving). We then all went into the school and the Hospitality students had Antipasto trays and soft drinks for everyone to nibble on.
We were then treated to Chinese Dragons dancing their way through the crowd to spread Good Luck to all the Graduates.
The kids had photos taken before they boarded their Mystery Trip bus for the night.
First up they went to have their formal dinner in the City and then they change into normal clothes and go to various entertainment venues through the night till the next morning when they return to the school. (Ice skating, White Water World and Im not sure what the last one was).
They have Thursday off (to recover) and then Friday morning they have their Graduation ceremony where they get their certificates and finally leave the school through a guard of honour by the rest of the school.
This is the first grand child where we have been able to attend as the first two were during Covid so parents/family werent able to attend.
So proud of our boy Zac. Congratulations. PS. This is the same little Zac that appeared in a couple of my tutorials when he was about 4 years old!

Last week I got to visit my birth mother again. Was definitely a different visit than our first meeting which was pure emotion and very overwhelming for both of us.
We have been constantly communicating through phone calls and letters getting to know each other and learning about our lives for the last 70 years.
She told me the circumstances about my father and that answered a lot of questions I had. The information was given freely without me even asking. Managed to get a photo of my birth mum and myself and my daughter (her grand daughter), so three generations.
I dont think there is any doubt about who my birth mum is.

I so wish I was a cat, sleep, sleep, eat and sleep. Georgia, aka Meow Meow or Princess Fatbelly sure has it good.
So many places to sleep, including our bed, with only the occasional desire to expend any energy by playing with her toys or any thing that might fight back like a piece of packing strapping.
Georgia is 13 years old now which equates to 68 human years, so as a senior I guess shes entitled to do as she likes.
Different story when its dinner time though, she will follow us around, sit in the middle of the kitchen floor and voices her disgust at the humans taking so long to feed her.
Her only other bad trait lately is to act as an alarm clock at 3am so one of us humans will let her out of the bedroom so she can go down to her litter box and have early morning munchies on her kibble.
I swear she is getting worse because she used to wait till 4am but now with daylight quite early now its summer it seems she likes to be up to watch the sunrise.
Despite everything we love her dearly and are happy to be her slaves.

Last Saturday night my daughter and her partner took me to the Australian Ballets last night for the season to see Swan Lake.
What a wonderful night it was too.
I met them at Southbank where we went and had dinner then moved on to QPAC (Queensland Performing Arts Centre) for the performance.
Having done ballet for 17years in my younger days, I have danced in Swan Lake several times for recitals. It brought back a lot of memories and to see it again was fantastic. The orchestra were brilliant. The one thing I really noticed was the excellent props on stage.
My dancing days only had big painted back drops so to see the props on the stage that made the acts so real was amazing.
We all thoroughly enjoyed the evening and it has given me a thirst to want to see more. The next production will be the Nutcracker so wonder if I can sweet talk someone into giving me tickets for an early Christmas!

Grandies….grandma, but I prefer Nanny, and granddaughter enjoy doing things together and stripping a motor and gear box out of a car is something we both enjoyed the other weekend.
Grand daughters car decided the gear box didnt want to work in anything other than 2nd gear so it is sitting in our back yard until another gear box can be put in.
So Poppy found a car at the auctions that had been involved in a crash but motor and gear box were OK so now the task begins of pulling off all the broken body panels (mainly left guard, bumper), radiator and everything that could be stripped that wont be needed.
We got most of it out, just a few more things to undo off the motor to allow it to come out.
Once we get all the parts off that we need and her boyfriends car, we will part it out and sell things. (lights, seats etc)We will then transfer the gear box into her car so she can get it back on the road.
Nothing like getting the hands dirty having fun with the grand daughter!!
