Yesterday when coming home we were stopped at a set of lights and saw this weird looking car stopped at the opposite set of lights.
Even hubby didnt know what it was and I swear he can tell you what sort of car anything is.
So when we got home we looked up the registration and it came up as a 2018 McLaren 720S First time weve seen anything like it and havent even seen one at any of the car shows we go to.
On further investigation I dont think we will be getting one any time soon unless we win lotto! One could buy a house for the price. So we will continue to dream on for a while longer.
Dog………well 2 dogs and a goat! We were driving up the street and I had to look twice. Someone walking up the footpath with 2 dogs on a lead and a goat. I guess thats what happens in a rural area.
However all was revealed later that day when a post was put on Facebook. Our Thursday night Lotto which is Powerball was jackpotted to $200 million. It seems everyone wants to be in the draw and one of the locals and his pets wanted to be in the draw too.
So off he went with both his dogs and the goat in tow.
Maybe the goat whos name is Zeus won it because we didnt win but someone from SE Qld was one of two winners but it was an unregistered ticket and they havent come forward yet to claim their win.
The other winner was a registered ticket from NSW and she got the call letting her know last night. How cool would it be to get a call saying youd won $100million!
We have our grand daughter living with us at the moment and we also have her gorgeous little cat, Narla, here too.
As Zoe works during the day, Narla misses her and has taken to cuddling up with us whenever she gets the opportunity.
Guarantee if we sit and watch TV she will be curled up with either hubby or me, but she has decided that getting up on the back of my chair or on my shoulders is the place to be when Im at the computer.
If Im not at the computer she will make herself comfortable on hubbys lap. She is a ragdoll/Siamese mix with the Turkish Van ragdoll colour. So she is a very loving little girl. We also have Zoes other cat, which we were to mind for 3 months…….
That was 5 years ago! Georgia (or Meow Meow as we call her) is jealous and although there has been no spats, she likes to bail up Narla by lying outside whatever room Narla is in….. it is like you want out you have to get past me first.
Meow isnt impressed either that Narla has made herself quite at home on her favourite chair and she is also not impressed that Narla is using her litter box instead of her own.
Love them both and their individual personalities. I am just not sure I need help at the computer!
The other night our security cameras alerted us to movement on the back camera. Half hour after midnight, it went off and gave us a rude awakening as we were sound asleep.
I looked at the video and it started off looking like the camera was being moved or someone trying to take it off then we see what looked like a pair of legs in the darkness.
We bounded out of bed, hubby grabbed the torch and we went looking to see if we could see anyone.
Mind you we were still half asleep, hearts pounding and ready to take on whoever it was.
We couldnt see anyone in the yard, so turned on the back light and hubby went out to look at the camera.
What he found was a big stick insect sitting on the camera. He moved the insect (they dont bite) and put it on the kitchen window well away from the cameras.
In the morning it was still there and we concluded that the legs were the two little leg looking things called cercus at the bottom of its body.
The movement of its body on the camera was what we thought was someone trying to move the camera. We had a laugh about it in the morning when we looked again when we were actually awake.
Here in Australia we have a very pretty scarab beetle commonly called a Christmas beetle because they appear around Christmas time each year.
They have a beautiful iridescent gold colour although the colour can vary to a reddish colour or even a blue/green colour too.
They are predominately found on the east coast of Australia from Victoria in the south to the top of Queensland although they can also be found scattered in areas right across Australia.
They are about 2cm to 3cm in length and there are 36 species all native to Australia.
The larvae are a C shaped grub (curl grubs) and often mistaken for widgey grubs that people remove and feed to birds or the chooks because they eat the roots of plants and grasses.
These will also eat the roots of grasses but if one has a healthy lawn it wont do too much damage.
These grubs will live in the soil for around 2 years before the beetle digs its way to the surface and flies away.
There has been a depleted absence of these beetles the last few years but they are slowly starting to be seen in larger numbers over the last two years.
I havent seen one for several years so was really excited to find a couple on our verandah over Christmas.
They sure are worth finding and hopefully we will see more of them as we have a lot of bushland around here which is their preferred habitat as they eat eucalyptus leaves.
