It was my birthday on 1st June and I had a wonderful day. My son and his family took me out to lunch (forgot to get photos!) Loved the presents from them.

Earlier this year they were over in the US and they thought ahead while over there and got me things they knew Id love.

A licenced shirt from the New York Fire Department which I definitely do love and a tin of toffee which is a limited edition from Forest Gump franchise.

After lunch met up with my daughter and as a surprise she took me for a pedicure…..first one Ive ever had in 71 years!

Lovely and relaxing and was perfect because trying to look after my feet these days is an effort. I dont bend like I used to!!. We then went and had coffee and red velvet cupcakes to finish the day.

Finally our new walk in pantry is pretty much done. Benchtops and flooring still to be done but those will be done once our kitchen is also completed. Looking now at the EOFY sales are coming up to purchase an all freezer upright freezer that will go into the pantry.

Also looking for a fridge, preferably all fridge, which will go in the kitchen. The room we have made the walk in pantry in we think was supposed to be a dining room as there was a small pass through where the door way from the kitchen now is.

The pantry is all new walls as we extended the small walk in robe in our bedroom to make that bigger and formed the new wall for the pantry.

Unfortunately we couldnt do a full length wall as where the microwave is in the corner, there is plumbing for the ensuite toilet behind that and also there is a big window that the wall wouldve ended up in front of one end.

So finally I am able to pull crockery, glassware and other kitchen items out of boxes and give them a place.

Corner pantry is huge and I just love how much stuff I can put in there. Weve started pulling the kitchen apart now (the pantry that was in there) is already gone as I now have its contents in the walk in pantry.

One happy Mumma here and so looking forward to the kitchen renos now. Its a good feeling as hubby and I custom built the entire walk in pantry. Took us a while but we did it!!

The weather has messed up the plants around here. Tomorrow is the first day of winter and plants are sprouting new leaves and covered in flower buds. Someone didnt tell them that all that is supposed to happen in spring.

There was a hibiscus here when we moved in, not doing real well and not even a foot tall. Now its nearly three feet high and covered in buds with flowers appearing on a daily basis. This gorgeous hibiscus is one of them. I was sad when we moved that I couldnt bring some of the big hibiscus bushes with us as we had some pretty colours.

Red hibiscus is pretty much the norm and everyone has them but we had some oranges, yellows, peachy colours and purples back in Hervey Bay.

So Im stoked to have this pretty creamy one that has the deep pink/magenta centre. I will continue to nurture it as the flowers are huge as well as pretty.

Last Monday night the family of my childrens Dad held a Memorial Night at Albion Park Raceway. When we got married, my then husband was introduced into the career path that was to last the next 50 years.

Sadly he passed on 22nd April and his wishes were that he had no funeral but rather a party was to be held down the track.(no pun intended) So our son and the fathers current partner thought what better way to celebrate his life than to have a Memorial Night at a place that he raced at regularly.

There was a race named in his honour and up in the function room there was lots of memorabilia on display.

I made up a 72 slide powerpoint with photos that Id spent a week scanning photos of some of the more prominent greys hed had through out his career which was shown on the big screen through out the night.

After the race named in his honour, my son presented the winner with the trophy as family and friends all gathered trackside to hear from a few people that had been such a big part of his life.

I also caught up with quite a few people still in the industry from back when we brought that first grey.

It was a wonderful night and Im sure he wouldve been up there feeling very proud of himself that he was remembered in this way.

Just as well I can see the beauty in the small things like this pretty garlic vine that has wound its way up through the trees on the neighbours property.

All the way up there is this pop of purple and I never get tired looking at it when it flowers.

I needed something to cheer me up as it has been a horrible time lately. My kids father passed away, my daughter split with her partner and one of my external hard drives that had a lifetime of work and memories/photos decided it didnt want to play anymore.

Was working fine on the Thursday night and simply wasnt there on Friday morning when I turned the computer on.

I have had it in to a data recovery place and they have said nothing is recoverable. To say I am devastated is an understatement.

I will have to go through Messenger and Facebook to see what is on there but it is going to take weeks to get photos off so I can save them all in one place again.

I have to start from scratch to make stuff to start doing CUP designs again now too.
