On a Saturday morning we toddle off to our local market to pick up our fruit & vegetables for the coming week.
The produce is mostly local grown & very fresh.
Last Saturday we went to our favourite stall & bought everything we needed, he also gave us 6 oranges & a stock bundle free.
The total for everything was just 14? (about £12). The same items in a supermarket would be more expensive & of course not as fresh. The picture shows all my purchases.
Last Sunday we were invited to do a Walking with Clues, which is a sort of treasure hunt. We were given start times & a list of things we had to find ? some of which were anagrams.
There were also quiz questions to answer during the coffee/wine breaks.
We set off with our sheets in hand wandering around our local Spanish town. What the Spanish thought we were doing I don?t know.
Our team even involved a young Spanish boy to try to find one of the clues but neither he nor his abuelo (Grandad) could help. After 2 hours of walking & stopping in bars we arrived back at the car & then went to the Golf Club for lunch.
We were already on desserts by the time a couple of the cars appeared ? they had found the clues but couldn?t find the golf club! We didn?t win either the treasure hunt or the quiz but had a lovely morning walking in the sunshine instead of sitting at home in front of the TV. The picture shows myself & the 2 friends that we went with studying the clues.
I often wonder whether it is possible to get to the stage where all my crafty stash is totally organised.
No matter how many boxes or shelves, I still seem to have stuff that is laid around & which always seems to be in the way when I try to craft.
I was recently complaining that to do die cutting or embossing was a chore as I had to find somewhere to set my machine up then find all the plates, dies, folders etc. before I could even start.
My other half suggested that I find some way of keeping it all together so I could easily use it.
This resulted in a trip to our local Ikea (about an hour away) to look for a unit to suit the purpose.
I managed to find a drawer unit with sufficient space on top to put my embossing machine so that it can be used in situ.
After assembling it that evening I now have my ?Die Cutting & Embossing station? which also has casters on so I can move it to wherever I am working.
The drawers have all my dies, folders, plates & card scraps ready for use.
Having uploaded my 10,000th card photo on 31st January I reached Titanium status as a Craftsuprint Crafter. Until the postman brought me an unexpected package I hadn?t realised that I would receive one of Crafty Bobs amazing glass trophies.
What a surprise I got when I opened the parcel.
I posted onto Facebook that I had something to tell everyone but kept them waiting all day for the news & photo. Everyone was wondering what the surprise was.
Was I getting married, having a baby, becoming a granny, won the lottery & one bright spark even suggested it might have been that I got a ?toucher? at bowls.
Eventually I put them out of their misery by posting the photo & received an amazing number of Congratulations. So thank you Crafty Bob for my lovely trophy which is taking pride of place in my trophy cabinet along with my bowls trophies.
Once a year, a nearby town holds a medieval fair. All the stalls are decked out as in medieval times & the streets are covered in straw.
The local residents wander around in costume which makes it feel more authentic. Allen & I decided to go early Saturday morning to miss most of the crowds & it turned out to be a good decision.
We were able to wander around the many stalls & sample some of the food items. Cheeses, salami, sweet jellies, & chocolate to name but a few. We watched belly dancers, jugglers, clowns & even goats from Hades who come to get the naughty children.
These are on the blade type stilts & stand about 7 foot tall, dressed in costumes with their faces painted.
Glad I?m not a naughty child. Lunch was tapas & beer which we ate while watching the belly dancers. We then wandered back through the stalls with our many purchases to make our way home.
We were shattered after almost 5 hours wandering but we had enjoyed the morning. 2 of my top selling cards
