Jausen - Snack

In September we visited relatives in Austria. "Jausen "means Snack. It is eating at around 5pm. In Austria and in Europe in general your big meal is at Lunch / Noon.

Not like in North America where your bigger meal is at night. Well this was a BIG snack we got at a restaurant.

It consisted of Cheese, assorted meats, some vegetables and wonderful dark rye bread. I always gain weight when we go to the "Old " country :)

Mardi Gras

Being in Louisiana at the moment I am surrounded with Mardi Gras stuff. King cake, beats and masks. We will go to the parades where they dress up and throw trinkets like beats , stuffed animals to kids and other small toys.

On the weekend whole families get together and weather permitting set up along the parade route and eat and drink and be merry awaiting the arrival of the decorated floats.I am sure I will have some pictures of that later.

New Orleans

We are spending the winter in Baton Rouge which is an hour West of New Orleans Louisiana. Since I use to live there I know my way around. This is Jackson Square with the oldest Catholic Church in the USA .

Lovely park and at the right corner behind me the famous Cafe Du Monde. Where every body has to get Coffee and beignets which is a type of donut. Will Upload some Iris Folding pattern this week also. Thank you for considering my creations - Silvia

Saying Thank You

My Daughter has a advent calendar of a different sort. She filled little booties with things to do. Like making cookie, going to visit a nursing home, invite friends for a sing along.

One of them was to go bring cheer / something to the local fire station around the corner of her house.

So we packed up 5 children and bought them some cookies, a panetone and swiss chocolates. They where very friendly and the kids got a tour of the fire truck and a kids firemen hat.
