The heath where we walk our dogs is just bursting with colours just now that goes all the way to the cliffs at the beach.
We walked the woodland area this week for a change and it was lovely in every direction we looked.
Seemingly there is three types of heather that grow here. The most common species is Common Heather or ling. Bell Heather and the third, Cross-leaved Heath.

Our border collie pup Fidget has been taking notice of our other dog, Mak. She is now quite happy venturing out for a swim to bring us back the ball after watching him do it for a while.
She was never too keen on the water but has taken a shine to it now. She can even out run Mak to get the ball first from the water. Weve been making the most of the beach this month as they wont be able to go in for a swim soon when the weather turns as it gets too choppy for them.

Since moving from London last February we have been enjoying the sunset from our back garden when the rain holds off.
We were so used to a built up area that we had forgotten how something so simple looks so pretty.
Just need to cut a couple of trees back after autumn to get the full enjoyment of it.

Were very lucky to have such lovely dog friendly beachs very close to us which we visit most mornings.
Our favorite just now is Dunwich as we can park and walk for a couple of miles while the dogs have their swim then we can walk back through the heath which is such a maze of paths and stunning views.
Dunwich was once a busy shipping centre, one of the busiest ports in the east of England. A lot of the town has disappeared due to coastal erosion, most of the buildings that were present in the 13th century have disappeared, including all eight churches.
A large storm in 1347 swept some 400 houses into the sea. Another storm on the 16 of January 1362 finally destroyed much of the remainder of the town. A popular local legend says that, at certain tides, church bells can still be heard from beneath the waves.

Last week while walking down the farm path with our dogs, we came across a little hedgehog. We checked he was still alive as he was in the middle of the path during the day.
The next day he was in the exact same place so we knew he needed some help. We got a box from home and popped him in that and fed him some mashed up chicken soaked in water and put a hot water bottle under a blanket.
He was ever so wobbly on his feet as he ate and after some reading realized he was dehydrated. We got him all settled with a bigger box, little hut and a run and looked after him for a few days until we could find someone local to take him.
The gentleman said that because of the hot weather, they are getting a lot of juveniles to look after as the Mums are wandering off now for water.
So little Sonic is now quite happy on a little reserve with around another 20 little ones.
