My son is a clothes designer,he specialises in medieval clothing for re-enactments,but has mad a lot of town criers outfits and has done mayors robes etc,he also had an excibition last yr of medieval clothing he had made,and it attracted a great crowed from all over,this year he is doing a steampunk excibition.My Daughter now works with him in his shop and they do alterations for military camps and police and the public,but they also have fun and about once a week they have a Hat Day and put it on face book, people come in to join in on hat day and followers on face book really enjoy seeing hat day.The photo of Jeannette who is also a cup designer and Writer is wearing one of the steampunk dresses made by Mark and the hat was courtesy of Heather Howse. the top card still has the gold star,but i have loads of stars left .
My son mark is a clothes designer and has a shop in Royal Wootten Bassett,his sister works with him,they do alterations as well as designing,last year my son had an excibition of medieval clothing he has made which drew in a huuge crowd,so much in fact that the hotel he held it in told him he could hold the next one free because of all the trade it brought in that day, so his next one is in feb and this time its a steampunk one. he has made the town criers out fits from all over England,i am so proud of them both,once a week they have a hat day which goes on FB for a bit of fun, they get visitors coming in to join in hat day,they all love it.this is one of the pics from last wk and it was just mark and Jeannette. this is two of my new designs,please feel free to look at the others
On sunday we went to see all the vintage tractors,steamrollers,scooters and motorbikes,there were also old trucks and waggons,it was very interesting seeing Massey Ferguson tractors from my time on the farm as a child,and the old Vespa scooter's and triumph Sunbeam motorbikes,the weather was warm and windy but overcast so we were surprised that my daughter got badly sunburnt,on the Saturday I turned gold and got my new glasses which will make my work on here a lot less eye straining,so all in all it was a great weekend. i did 5 gold themed designes to celebrate my becoming gold.
Recently my son took us on a day trip to Wales,He took us to see Castell Coch,wow it is like a fairytale Castle and well worth a visit,it is on a hill in a wooded area and it wa a lovely ,walk up through the trees with all the spring flowers and lovely green at this time of year,the Castle was amazing and fascinating to see how they lived in those day,not for me I may add,i like my home comforts.On the way back he took us past Caerphilly Castle another one well worth a days visit in the future, my map of places I have been is growing,after so many years of being afraid to travel .
I have had so much fun today,because like most of the country we have had snow,so my son and i went sledging on the hill opposite my house, but unlike the wood one we use to make as kids these are plastic and my son went down once and the next time he tried it started buckle,it would not take his weight,bless him, we will be ready next time with an old fashioned wooden one made to take weight and keep you dry .
