The Burning Birthday...

Where would you like to go?, said my husband, as I stuck my head away from the computer for long enough to realise that yes, another birthday had come around.

I chose Myddleton Gardens in Enfield. Hadnt been, and its famous for having flowers planted by an artist.

A done deal surely? Well, they do good scones, and its peaceful, with interesting history. But in lots of beds where there should have been flowers, through absolutely no-ones fault, many areas had simply been burnt to a crisp by the outrageous, 90+ degree heat of the last few weeks.

So we took photos where we could (including of this gorgeous poppy)...and resolved to go back in the autumn.

Stunning Rhododendrons At Kenwood

Popped along to the grounds of Kenwood House today with hubby...and realised that wed managed to be there for the rhododendron and azalea season.Im not sure that the photo that I took, whilst showing the range of their colours, does them any justice at all.

Deep pinks jostle with bee-buzzed purples, and carpets of petals drift below archways of blooms...You get the idea. The colours are tear-jerkingly lovely. But they wont be there for long. So if you love flowers and live anywhere near Kenwood House in North London, this is probably *the* week/weekend of the year to see them.
