ED186 Blue flowers
Stitching with beads and spacers
Photographs from the Community (4)
I have purchased a few of Emy's stitching designs, and they are always easy and accurate, and the results absolutely rewarding. I have photographed the 2, I have just completed, together, so that you can see the different results using different colours and sizing. The following information gives details of both cards.
For the blue card, I used the sheet provided to out onto a blue core card 14.5 cm wide and 14cm high. I began by following the instructions for the stems using a mercer lime green cotton. I then used a shiny, polyester thread, in royal blue, to complete the flowers and buds. The beads I used are as follows
13 x tiny royal blue glass, seed beads. NOTE 3 of those were for the centre of the pearls inside the spacers.
18 x3mm,royal blue, glass, seed beads
5 x royal blue 5mm, glass,rice beads ( oval beads)
3 x Silver floral shaped spacers, measuring 1cm across,
3 x pearl seed beads 4mm. The measurements are as close as I can measure
To attach the centre of the spacers, I first lined them up correctly and used a few catching stitches to hold them in place before attaching the pearl and tiny seed bead. I thought they looke a little like "Love in the mist , so I added the flowers and used a fine green pen to add the green foliage to give it the misty look. I mounted the card onto to backing sheets with double sided tape, before using the same tape to attach the finished topper to the main card. The first backing sheet is a deep midnight blue, 16cm x 15.5cm, and to this, I attached a royal blue, 1cm wide satin ribbon, which I also wrapped over and around the purple backing sheet card, 16.5 x 16cm. The main card is an ivory.17cm x 16cm front. I also made an insert from copy paper, I used the print off of the flower and the royal blue ribbon, on the insert, to keep within the theme..
The red Christmas card is a smaller size, the stitching is done on a white card 14.5 x 12cm. I had used a 200gsm white card to print the Merry Christmas Greetings, in various fonts, and used a green stamp pad, to gently smooth over the surface, making the area that I wanted the design a little darker, than the outer edges. I used a shiny, bottle green, polyester thread, to do the stems and a similar thread in a bright deep red to make the flowers and the buds.
The beads I used for this card are as follows.
4 x tiny glass, green seed beads.
2 x 2mm glass, green seed beads.
10 x tiny round shiny red beads.
5 x rice, shiny, 0.5cm, red beads.
3 x silver, floral shaped, spacers with 3 bright green sequins and very tiny red matte seed beads in the centre.
I made 2 backing sheets, The green is 15 x 13cm, and the red 16 x 13 .5cm
Before I attached the stitched topper, I wrapped the Christmas ribbon onto the left hand side, and tied the bow. I also attached the same ribbon to the green backing sheet, leaving the ends loose to also attach to the red backing sheet. The topper was then attached with double sided tape to the green backing sheet and the green backing sheet attached to the red backing sheet with padded tape. The main card is white, and I used a snowflake peel off, to attach to the top, side and bottom edges, before attaching the completed topper to the white card front which measures 16.5 x 14cm with padded tape.
I am very happy with the beautiful outcome of both cards , so thank you Emy, and I send a big hug
