Its been a crazy week so TGIF! Started with son telling us he had the virus last week. So working out just when he was infectious till when he tested…… we were glad we hadnt seen him for more than 10 days.

Seems friends and family dont test positive till 9 or 10 days till they test positive we figured we were ok.

His son has now tested - again 9 days after his Dad (being that he is shared custody) so again timeline fitted.

Then last weekend I was doing the final sanding on the plaster in some of the rooms we are renovating when I happened to catch my index finger on the edge of the spinning disc and ripped a huge chunk out of the finger.

Today is the first day I can actually type using that finger, in fact doing anything at all with it.

Ive also been battling trying to set up new computer and have now got Windows 10 instead of my trusty old Windows 7.

Trying to find files, unzip files and getting dll files in the right place so my graphic programs can run my plugin/filters has been a challenge.

Still havent got them working so not been able to do any graphics other than using the basic program is not fun.

Got to love technology.

Ive been holding off getting another computer for months but as the whole computer was just shutting down a couple of times a day was driving me batty so had to give up and get a new one.

So hopefully will be back into designing again soon. Then although weve not had any rain, weve been getting these huge pea-souper fogs each day where we dont see the sun till round 9 or 10am each morning.

Its unreal not even being able to see the houses across the road. Although we had fogs when we were in Hervey Bay they were never as thick and long as what weve had this week.

Even at 10.30 at night the fog has been so thick as to not see the stars. So interesting/crazy week lets hope next week is more normal!

Each year the Fire Fighter Cancer Awareness Foundation bring out merchandise where funds raised are used to support and assist Fire Fighters that have one of the 12 cancers known to have been caused by doing their duty.

These cancers are covered by presumptive legislation and although 12 types are known causes, there is also investigations around the world that could indicate all cancers could also be attributed to firefighters doing their job.

So the Foundation helps these firefighters and supports their families once a diagnosis is made. So each year as a once off they bring out T shirts/Polo shirts, caps, and this year hoodies.

In the past few years its been Real Firefighters wear Pink (supporting breast cancer) and this year they went Real Firefighters wear Blue in 2022 (supporting prostate cancer).

I have purchased the Polo and T shirts the last 5 years so this year I thought a hoodie would be great now Im living where it gets really cold.

It arrived on Tuesday and already its had plenty of use as its so warm and comfortable.

Here in Australia we are still rugged up to the hilt trying to keep warm, my thoughts are with the people in the UK and Europe that are dealing with the record breaking heat.

I can only imagine what you are going through with not being used to such high temperatures and the fires that have raged over there.

Being what we deal with in our fire seasons and knowing the planning and resources that go into these huge fires, loss of homes and being prepared for something that to us is the norm, we feel helpless as we see places on the news here.

But for us we are continuing to deal with the rain and cold with yet another out of season weather event with an East Coast low bearing down on us bringing huge swells and erosion on the coast and more rain and big winds.

Last thing we need at the moment is more rain as the ground is still waterlogged from all the previous rain weve seemed to have continually this year.

Even the cat is feeling the cold and looking for warm places to sleep.

Hubby put a hoodie jumper on the bed the other day and Meow decided that crawling inside was the perfect place to spend the day!

Last Friday we had to take our Grandson to the airport for him to fly north to have a few days with his other Grandparents.

Of course I wasnt going to miss going (Hubby couldve just taken him) so despite the freezing cold morning off we went.

We got his bag checked in and went up through security to wait till he boarded. But the adrenalin kicked in as I saw all those planes and the runway with the take offs and landings.

I just love watching them.

After he boarded we went round to the skywalk to watch his plane taxi out but they switched runways and his plane was taking off on the new runway opened last year.

It is quite a way from the terminals and not the best viewing as you dont see the planes till they have taken off and are climbing up over the top of the terminals.

There is a viewing platform right up the end of the airport but this visit we didnt go up to that.

Then on Monday back to the airport to pick the grandson up. I had tracked his flight and it was great to see his plane on approach.

As the landing was on the new runway also we did actually see it touch down and by the time it got to the gate we had walked from the skyway to his gate.

On take off its the rotate one doesnt see. Was a lovely couple of visits as I just love being at the airport and watching the planes of various sizes come and go……….

Its my Happy Place.

My daughter and I would go out to the viewing platform and spend a couple of hours watching when I used to visit.

Now Im in Brisbane, we will be going back more often.

Sunrises and sunsets are still giving us some fantastic displays in the mornings and evenings. It is all generated from the Tonga volcano dust being in the air which they say will hang around for the next year or so.

On January 15 this year, undersea volcano Hunga Tonga-Hunga Haapai erupted in a massive explosion thought to be one of the worlds largest in recent decades.

The big and energetic eruption had pumped particles such as ash, sulphates and water vapour into the stratosphere.

Because of this it is giving us these wonderful displays twice a day although lately because of the weather there hasnt been opportunity for weeks and days at a time due to the rain.

Every day is different with pinks, purples, mauves, oranges, yellows displayed on the clouds if there is any, or just the colour hues if the sky is totally clear.

What I like about it is often as much as there is brilliant colour to the west but its also on any cloud to the east, and vice versa both morning and night.

Mother Nature must be trying to make us forgive her with these wonderful shows as shes given us so much rain this year.
