Hurricane Season, Again... by Janice Shehan

We are very blessed to have Hurricane Hermine, in Florida, of the USA, to have barely missed us. Lots of rain and wind, but hardly any damage. So instead of picking up our lives and home, I can make more cards :) Im obsessed with CUP and making designs, dont know what I did before finding this site. Thanks CUP staff and Crafty Bob!

The Empty Nest by Janyce Cotterill

Earlier this year I told you about our new nest box and we were thrilled when a pair a blue tits took up residence. We watched as they were in and out with nesting material, then the sitting on the eggs and finally all the activity as they were in and out feeding their young. They raised a 6 healthy little fledglings. We emptied and cleaned the box this week and what a massive surprise we got when we saw how deep the nest was - those two little parents had worked extremely hard taking ALL of that into the box! How snug and warm they must all have been.It was lovely to see them all go but it was all very still and quiet after they had left - it reminded me of the term Empty Nest Syndrome - how I felt when our son left for university - 4 years ago - he is still there - another 3 to go! I had been thinking for awhile to pen some verse toppers both for parents and the potential students as the young spread their wings and start to fly - so here is the sheet of the verses I put together - and as we seem to be getting well into the festive mood with Christmas designs coming thick and fast on cUp here is one of my Christmas verse toppers too. I hope someone finds the sheets useful. Thank you for your interest.

A FROGGIE TALE by Wanda Lipski

As I am the part of the French contingent on CUP, and not having any grandchildren to boast about, I feel I ought to share with you what it is to be French and eat Frogs (and snails!) For any of your that baulk at eating little jumping creature I would like to reassure you that they are not always smothered in butter and garlic but that innovative chefs can serve them, yes in butter, but accompanied by a peppers and courgettes and herbs, which makes a refreshing difference. I was so surprised when the dish arrived that I whipped out my phone to take a photo (a first for me!). Frogs taste rather like chicken and its one food that you eat with your fingers, even in a restaurant, so thats rather fun too. Ive been busy making handbag and dangle here and as well as this little frog sheet, here is one of my latest star dangle cards. Enjoy!

Boating fun! by Kelly Barker

Just before the end of the summer holiday a big group of parents a children from my eldest daughters class got together at our local boating lake for a bit of fun before school started back. Normally the boating lake is run completely by volunteers to raise money for the scout group. A couple of the mums had organised with them that if they ran the boats for the day we could all just go on and off the boats as we liked. We all plotted up with our picnics and blankets and spent the whole day there. My favourite bit was that my lovely golden retriever Baxter got to spend the whole day with us, he sat in the middle of all the blankets getting love from everyone. There was a brother and sister who wanted to take him home with them! This week I have lots of my football rosette card designs with 25% off and this comic book rosette too. Thanks for looking.

Land of The Giants by Joanna Swinton

I remember when I was a child watching a great program called Land of the Giants. It was about a small group of Little People trying to make thier way in a big persons world. They had to be careful though not to be caught otherwise something bad might happen to them. They would be away from the other little people, for a start. I loved the program. When I saw this picture of my 3 year old Grandson, thats exactly what I thought of. He was on holiday in Wales ith my daughter and the rest of the family. They had a great holiday and the weather was fantastic for them. My favorate TV program of all times, even better than what we get on Sky TV was The Champions. We only had 3 TV channels in those days

... My Medal?? We had a lovely Bank Holiday family day out to Clumber Park and for once the weather was lovely too. There was lots going on for the children including sports and crafts etc but 4 year old Olivias highlight of the day was getting a Medal. One of the activities was a a mechanical horse that children could sit on and have a short ride. Olivia wasnt too sure about this but once she saw shed get a a rosette (her medal as she called it) she wanted to have a go! lol She proudly wore it all day too.

Pearl wedding anniversary! by Sarah Edwards

My in-laws celebrated their 30th wedding anniversary last week - thats an amazing 30 years of marriage! We had a little family gathering at their house so I made them a cake. Its a three layer chocolate marble cake with vanilla buttercream piped to look like roses. It had four whole packs of butter in it - NOT a healthy cake by any stretch of the imagination, but hey, it tasted nice!!

My Daughters Birthday Keepsake by Vicki Avcin

It was recently my daughters birthday and each year I try and make a very special card for her. I dont get to see her often so the significance of making something that she can have as a keepsake is so important to me. This year I made a card that I used my Silhouette Cameo using one of Tina Fitchs cutting files but tweaked it to suit my way. I couldnt find small flowers to work so these beauties caught my eye at the local $2 shop and I think they worked perfectly to make the beautiful card pictured. Thanks Tina for the base and inspiration for her card. I felt quite proud as my daughter told me that she keeps every card I make her. Im happy that she likes and appreciates them as I prefer to design cards rather than make them mainly because of my busy life I tend to not have the time to spend making as I would like to.

OOOPs I did it again! by Tina Fitch

I did , Another Trophy I won on Sunday for Best in Show post 1996...And a nice little parcel of Polish ... I am getting rather used to this winning lark! I now need to start investing in a cabinet to place them all in... 3 years and 3 trophies ...However the work I have to put in to gain the win is a lot, I dont stop from springtime to the end of the season, so I have a very good chance of my RS winning some goodies...This time next year I will have the new model RS too so will be double the work, The waiting time on the new car is nearly 12 months .. and I should take delivery in March all ready for the new 17 registration.. To say I am excited is an understatement but I will leave it there until its delivered ...I am promoting Christmas this week with my two special designs I have chosen, But please remember Halloween is nearly upon us too and I have loads of scary designs for you to purchase if you so wish... Sleepover! ... again by Sue Way

Our granddaughters have had such a busy summer & with us being off in our tourer we have hardly seen them. But last weekend we made up for all that by having them for a sleepover and 2 days of fun! First we took them shopping for a comic, but ended buying a comic for Imogen, a book for Jessica and then we let them choose a toy each. They chose crafty toys, so we had fun making model Shopkins and playing with DohVinci for a few hours. After that we left the mess all over the table and took the dogs to the park, where the girls ran around and had fun on everything. I even had a go on the zip wire. Back home for a quick drink, then off to their favourite restaurant for cheesy pasta and ice-cream. We finished the day off with the animated film Hotel Transylvania, then a story before the fell straight asleep until 5.30am!!!!!! They were very good though; they left me in bed & let granddad snooze in the chair while they made more Shopkin models until I got up and made their breakfast. What a fab weekend we had. My Blanket by Anne Lever

My daughter is a very talented crocheter and knitter, two things that I cannot do. She has made herself the most gorgeous blanket ( folded up in the centre of the pic). I was so impressed with it that I asked her to make me one. I provided the wool and she is in the process of making it for me. She has done all of the squares, but now has to attach them all together. It should be done just in time for the cold weather :-)
