Gnomely Fundraising by Janice McFarlane

Im sure we have all been appalled and distressed by the current situation between the Ukraine and Russia. Covid seems like it happened in another time, as the world focuses on this travesty. The plight of the people and the heartbreaking images of the refugees. Around the country fundraising programmes have been set up, so we all can at least do our part. One of our local social clubs and my friend decided to also have our community do its part. Many contributing items to be sold. I contributed two of my crochet gnomes which I made in the colours of blue and yellow colours of the Ukrainian flag. My friend made dozens of blue and yellow wool flowers on a loom which were to be sold as brooches. Many people made cake and even the butcher provided a tray of sausage rolls. We all were happy to contribute and the fundraising will continue when they have their craft fair in a couple of weeks.

Happy Birthday Imogen! by Sue Way

Our middle granddaughter Imogen was 11 this week. She has grown up so much in the last year, she is almost as tall as me now! They visited us a few days before her birthday for presents and a lovely grazing spread laid out by her mum and we sang Happy Birthday with a giant chocolate cake ... her favourite! Here are a couple of my Mothers Day designs.

My ... by Carol Clarke

... youngest son, Paul, has been running since he was a teenager. In fact he represented Notts at the County championships for the first time when he was just 13. Hes carried on running , and winning lots of medals over the years. Last weekend he was competing in the British Indoor Championships. Luckily it was live streamed on YouTube so we got to see him win the gold medal in the 800m and the silver in the 400m! Below are two of my Easter designs ... There are lots more to choose from too! lol

Love this Flower by Vicki Avcin

We love seeing this Queen of the Night flower when it blooms. This time we had 9 buds but unfortunately only 6 came out. Not sure why some of them just seem to die off but happy that someactually opened. I had just finished saying to hubby that I wondered if they just popped open or slowly opened one petal at a time. While we weresitting out the front we could see the bud getting fatter and fattereven just within the 10 mins we were out there. I decided to go out about 10 mins later when pop half the bud exploded and half the petals popped out……. Was so excited. Then within a couple ofminutes the other half popped. For me the little things in lifeare exciting and this just made my night. Half an hour later while wewere still sitting out there another bud popped. Made our night!! It amazes me that these flowers know its night time and only bloom at night and although they are still open in the early morning they soon die off once the sun has been on them for a couple of hours.
