OoR Wullie Big Bucket Trail by Janyce Cotterill

Hello everyone. I havent had much time for designing of late as there has been family things to attend to, however I did manage to get up to Edinburgh book festival for three nights in August. During my stay there I saw part of the Oor Wullies Big Bucket Trail.Oor Wullie is a famous Scottish comic strip, Wullie being a Scottish nickname for William. Over two hundred sculptures of this loved Scottish character, made by a wide range of artists could be seen in cities, Glasgow, Edinburgh, Dundee, Aberdeen and Inverness. The trail raised money for three charities - Edinburgh Childrens Hospital Charity, Glasgow Childrens Hospital Charity and The ARCHIE Foundation. I wish I had had time to see more of these colourful characters. They were great things to see. Hats off to all the artists for their themes, colourful designs and attention to detail. Credits for these four Oor Wullies go to -1 - Brilliant Wullie by Chloe M Salvi, 2. Oor Rail Bridge by Alice Newman 3. Choose Life by Mandii Pope 4. Time to Shine by Hannah Blue, Harry Scott & Sam Wightman. More details can be found on the Oor Wullie Big Bucket Trail Website. Im leaving you with some of the designing I have managed to squeeze in to the little free time Ive had. The first is the final in my tri-fold floral series and the second is an insert to accompany one of my biggest selling Christmas designs. You can of course use the insert in any of your festive crafting. Thank you for your interest. Im sure most of you will be knee deep in Christmas embellishments by now!

Glynn by Janice McFarlane

I was looking through some old photos because my grandson had been watching the movie the Queens Corgis. He didnt know what a corgi was and my daughter told him that I had one as a young girl, and she asked me to find a photo to send Alfie so he could see nannas dog. It was in the 1970s (you can tell by the photo lol) when we acquired this feisty welsh pup who we called Glynn, and as a young girl, to me, he looked like a fox cub. He was very much a family dog, but he had a real special bond with my dad. As soon as he walked through the door, Glynn ran to greet him with his little stump of a tail wagging vigorously. He also had the natural instincts of a corgi dog as they were used traditionally as herding dogs, especially for cattle where they used to nip their heels to keep them moving. Our family experienced this on more than one occasion, when just walking around the home and Glynn was being playful he quite often would try to nip our heels. It was lovely to reminisce whilst looking at this picture.

Our New Visitor by Vicki Avcin

Sitting out on the patio the other night, we heard something shuffling around in the leaves in the garden. Thinking it was our possum friend, we wondered why the noise continued when we shone the torch around. Our little possum friend usually sits still if we shine the torch on him. So hubby went to investigate further. Without knowing what the noise was, he is gamer than I am. Around the front of the garden he stopped and called me to come round. A little hesitant I kept a wide berth to where he was and hubby pointed out this little cutie. We have long suspected there was one/some around as wed see the dig marks in the ground but to now had never seen one. Echidnas also known as spiny anteaters are found in all parts of Australia. They are shy mammals that usually hide during the day and forage for food at night. Their main food source is termites which they dig out and then lick up with their long sticky tongues. They have no teeth and grind the ants between their tongue and the bottom of their mouth. It is coming into puggling season and their breeding habits are unique. They lay an egg into a pouch, which they develop only during this time. The young hatches and stays in the pouch for about 3 months. These young are called puggles and are about the size of a jelly bean when hatched. Once it leaves the pouch it will start to eat ants but will also drink from the mum for several months. Their life span is about 10 years but can live to 16 years. They are fairly safe from prey due to the spiny spikes. They curl up into a ball with the spikes sticking out. Another of our very unique Aussie wildlife and so excited to find one in our own front garden.

Another two of my Circle Cutout designs. One suitable for Valentines Day or an Anniversary and the other a pretty Sunflower design.

My ... by Carol Clarke

... Little Feathered Friend! We had a couple of nice days this week but as luck would have it it was a dull, grey rainy day when I went for a walk around a local Reservoir!. This Handsome Cheeky Little Chappie accompanied me on my walk! I first noticed him just after Id got my boots on and started walking. He popped himself on a branch and sang me his melancholy song .... but then as I walked on he flew past me and alighting on a twig sang again .... and this continued again ... and again ... and again! He certainty brightened my day! Below are 2 of my Christmas Fold Back Cards ... Watch out for more ... Coming Soon!

Hurricane Dorian by Janice Shehan

Well thank God, we made it through the most recent hurricane. Unfortunately it hit the Bahamas. As with many church congregations, ours sent funds to help restore, heal and offer hope to the residents of the Bahamas. The effects of Hurricane Dorian in the Bahamas were among the worst experienced for any natural disaster in the country. Hurricane Dorian is the strongest hurricane on record to have hit the Bahamas — and one of the strongest Atlantic hurricanes on record.

Pula, Croatia by Carol Dunne

We have just returned from a fabulous two week holiday in Croatia. Not somewhere we have been before so it was an adventure for us both. The first week we stayed in Porec in the north. From there we took the bus to Pula which has many Roman ruins including the coliseum which you can see in the photo. We had a lovely day walking around the town. I will definitely be going back, its a beautiful place.

Tonys Birthday by Sue Way

Last Sunday we went to London to visit my son Tony and his girlfriend to celebrate Tonys birthday. We took our granddaughters with us. We went out for a delicious Italian lunch, then took the girls to the V & A Museum of Childhood. It was very interesting to see toys and clothes throughout the ages. There were old, slightly creepy, dolls from Victorian times, through to the Care Bears that my daughter used to own. It was lovely seeing my son look back on the toys he played with too, like his first Lego and Star Wars figures. I loved seeing lots of toys that myself and my sister used to own too, such as the Hoovermatic Twin Tub washing machine. I remember washing our little dolls clothes and hanging them on the airer in the garden to dry. Then there were the Sindy dolls and my favourite Tressy, with the hair that grew. After a walk back through the park, we had a nice cuppa and Tony blew out the candles on top of a pile of Pastel de nata. Here are a couple of my best-selling Baby designs. http://www.craftsuprint.com/sue-way/?r=968387
