Im on my way to stay with the girls this week end. One of the entertainment will be a birthday bowling party. Over the holidays we experience family bowling with my great nephew. This is a spare attempt which ended in the gutter.
He would run up throw his body done as he dropped the ball. Thump. Then we would watch and watch until it hit the pins. Slow motion was the name of the game but we all had a good time.
I started my bulbs at Thanksgiving in November. I could see that each bulb had two stems. Two bulbs were bright red and the third is a white with red accents. As you can see I now have three stems in bloom. One stem bloomed for Christmas and is gone.
But what a spectacular sight they are today. Most Amaryllis have only 4 flowers. These each have 6. My white one will probably bloom at Easter. These were just big box store bulbs which I havent always had any luck with.
Sometimes we just miss natures artwork. This is my window art painted by Jack Frost. Yes, I had the humidity high in my house while fighting a sinus cold and it was -26 outside.
I stayed inside running from one window to another snapping pictures thinking how wonderful these would be as scrap paper for a Christmas card.
We arent thinking about winter anymore so maybe Ill use them next year but there is a lesson learned here that nature in itself can come up with some of the most wonderful designs.
My granddaughter is now 4 and loves to do crafts. I gave her a subscription to kiwi crates. She receives a kit every month. It has been very successful. She looks forward to each package. This was her first project. Its a hobby horse.
There are several projects in each shipment. Then there is grannys kits. She has access to all my scraps which she creatively put to good use.
We are home now from our vacation on the Erie Canal. We played the part of a floating B & B for our friends who were bicycling the Erie trails. The were old college friends that we get together with every 3-4 years. The houseboat went 5 MPH. SLOW.
The bikers went 15 MPH. We never won the race. Breakfast on the boat was an enjoyable time since the mornings were cool. The afternoons, however, were in the upper 80s. Seeing our friends was the highlight of the trip.
