No, sadly, we haven`t (yet) flipped back into an alternate universe in which a visit to the National Trust house at Tyntesfield (the site of the garden in the picture above) would be entirely normal.
But...this picture (from 2014) *is* part of the unexpected treasure trove of photos I`d been sorting through in a what do I paint now we can`t go out? phase this week.
People, it turns out that I have around 5000 of these reference photos...And therefore no excuse not to be painting.
Which I began again, pronto, on realising the abundance of pics I`d been stashing away. Watch this space for the results...

Slowing down means I`ve noticed more, this week. Like this (male) hairy-footed flower bee, flying near our window-box wallflowers. Turns out that he has a prominent gold stripe, the females he seeks are predominantly black...And he`s chosen our wallflowers as a territory to defend in order to show his prowess.
Which even means fighting off other males, just like many animals hundreds of times his size. How many other mini-wildlife dramas have gone on under our noses, unnoticed until now, I wonder?

So, heres the second instalment from our trip to Kew Gardens last week. (And yes, I won`t lie, in the light of recent events, am very glad indeed we took a day out to go).
Anyway, in the interests of bringing the spring right to you, wherever you are, here`s just one of our pictures of the magnificent magnolias that were in full bloom across the grounds.
More pics next week.

This week, we had family visiting, and they asked to go to Kew Gardens. So we had a wonderful day filled with flowers and plants, plus the bonus of the Orchid Festival, which showed off stunning orchid species from Indonesia in such numbers that it made my head spin.
This is just one of the *very* many photos we took, showing just a fraction of the orchids in the festival section..There was so much that was lovely to see and do, you may be hearing from me about Kew for weeks...

Well, actually, this picture shows the view from one of the bridges in Lloyd Park in Walthamstow, on an autumn day a week or so ago.
When hubby and I finally recovered from a seemingly never-ending flu, and before various friend and family dramas unfolded that have also needed our attention.Which is a roundabout way of saying...I`ve been unavoidably away, but now am back-thank you for your patience!
