Ed097 Valentine
Stitching with beads
Photographs from the Community (2)
Valentines is passed for another year, however I have made this card as a friendship card for this month, and will still be able to use the pattern for next year for a Valentine greeting.
I have chosen pink, mauve and purple as my colour theme.
I have used a single thread of very bright pink pure cotton and a single thread of mauve polyester, and also a single thread of purple pure cotton threads to use for the stitching and used the mauve polyester for attaching the beads.
I completed all the stitching as the sheet instructions, before attaching the beads. I have used 6 round iridescent mauve 5mm beads and 4 purple kite shaped faceted beads. I have used a total of 10 beads to complete this card.
I used a white card cut at 13cm square and centred the design before pricking the design. I used the bright pink thread for the outline of the heart and 4 of the 10 point circles. I used the mauve thread for inside lines of the heart and the lines to depict the shape of the bow and 3 of the 10 point circles.
I used the purple thread to outline the bow shape. I completed this stitching before I attached the beads. I used mauve variegated crochet cotton to make the tiny hat, and white crochet cotton to make the flower on the hat and used one of the same round mauve iridescent beads as decoration for the hat.
I outlined the white card with a purple glitter pen and used a bright pink pen to colour the edges.
I attached the ribbon to the centre back of the stitched card allowing extra ribbon to wrap around to the inside of the card and then I mounted this using D.S. tape onto a bright pink backing sheet cut at 13.5cm square and then onto a purple backing sheet cut at 14cm square.
I used a ruler and a purple marker to define the outside edges of both backing sheets before attaching the completed topper onto the main card.
I attached the ribbon onto the inside of the card to form part of the insert.
I made the simple bow using the rabbit’s ears tie method and attached it using red power tape. I coloured some tiny gold butterflies with purple and pink pens and attached them. The hat is a tiny brooch, for which there is a pattern in my products list.
I have used a tiny piece of D.S tape to attach it, as the plan is for my friend to be able to wear the tiny brooch..
The main card is cut the same size as the purple backing sheet, to keep it within acceptable postage size.
I have used my water colour pencils to colour the heart in pale pink and pale mauve.
I love this design and believe these colours do the design by Emy, justice. Pamela Horton. The Whispering Platypus
