Stitching with beads
Photographs from the Community
This particular stitching and beading design is not specially designed for Christmas, however I made it in blues and pinks with butterflies and thought I might try a Christmas look for the next card and I am absolutely thrilled with the result and now I am sharing it with the next purchaser of this design.
I completed all the stitching on the card first, using green polyester thread. I used 10 silver floral shaped spacers, 24 metallic red tiny round beads, 12 red metallic 0.5mm rice beads and 14 tiny red glass seed beads to complete both of the stitched and beaded embellishments.
The extra seed beads were necessary as the card base measures 15 x 14.5 cm and the space between the right and left central scroll was not wide enough to take the larger spacers.
The bells and the sentiment are peel offs and I have used a white backing to mount them and to colour in the bells.
I have used a red pen to define the outer edges of the base white card front.
I used 3 lengths of ribbon vertically down the centre of the completed topper. To make this look like one ribbon, I attached the red ribbon first and then the 2 silver and organza ribbons overlapping the red ribbon.
I cut out a red glitter card for the first backing sheet which I attached using power tape.
The next backing sheet is cup278489_1051 White Christmas Snow Flakes, designed by Mary Jane Harris, and I have used this sheet on the back of this card as I have planned for this card to be accompanied by a small picture stand.
I have also included a lovely verse specially written, by Janyce Cotterill, for the Christmas verse to send to a friend.
I have finished the top of the card front with a double tied small bow using the red satin ribbon.
I am very happy with the outcome and will use this design many times more. Pamela Horton. The Whispering Platypus.
