I have used the 2 stitching designs to display as the main photograph as I really loved making the cards come to life.
I have used a very different approach and technique when adding the embellishments.
The pink finished card is stitched with a shiny metallic multi coloured thread and the yellow finished card is stitched with a finer weight multi coloured metallic thread.
I have used green metallic thread to stitch the stems on the front of both cards.
To complete the pink card, I have used a textured card cut at 28 x 15 cm and scored and folded it then attached, using D.S. tape, a white 14 x13cm backing sheet, a 13 x 12cm jade green backing sheet and a matching 12 x 11.25cm pink backing sheet, with its’ edges defined using a permanent pen, to the card front.
I have trimmed the completed stitched design sheet to measure 11 x 10.5cm and defined the edges with a green permanent pen.
I used the original sheet as a template and drew in the stems and position of the flower shaped buttons and transferred the positions using my pricking tool.I have attached the buttons securely onto the ends of the stems and I have used a green pencil to high light the stems before attaching the ribbon and the bow diagonally across the end of the stems and secured the ribbon ends over on the back.
I have cut a backing sheet slightly smaller to attach to the back of the stitched card to secure the stitching before attaching this work to the card front using D.S. tape.
I have added the sentiments. The insert is a rose textured paper cut to size.
I have used a verse from the free section to attach on the right hand side and coiled some very finely cut strips to make the flowers and added pearl centres.
This has made a beautiful birthday card for some one very special. The time and effort was well spent.
To complete the yellow card, I have used a more bright cheery pattern with doubling up when stitching on the buttons and I have threaded the bow through tiny slits made with my craft knife.
I have added a paper bead and a butterfly to complete the embellishments. This card has an extra insert.
I have used this idea a number of times and it works very well as it gives scope for extra folks to sign and for extra embellishments as it makes the card have a point of difference for someone very special.
I will use this idea for get well, Easter as well as birthday celebrations. The colours and buttons are only limited by imagination.
This card front measures 14.5 x 13.75cm, the black backing sheet measures 14 x 13cm, the yellow backing sheet measures, 13cm x 12cm and the white main image measures 11.5 x 10.5cm.
I always attach a light weight backing sheet to all my stitched work to ensure the stitching is secured. I am thrilled with the beautiful cards I have made using these designs, thank you Erica, I love your work.
