I have tried something quite different to use this particular stitching design and have used it for part of the embellishments for a male friend’s golf themed Birthday greeting card.
The rusty brown main card is larger than normal, measuring 17cm high and 16cm wide when closed.
I have used a Vault freebie, cup926322_3367 Live, Love, Golf decoupage by Cynthia Massey as the card front and used a previous purchase, cup563960_1051 Golf balls backing sheet as the insert page, adding the golf decoupage pieces and the stitching pattern as embellishments to the left hand side of the insert and a verse which was inspired by Janyce Cotterill, from the free verse section, to change slightly to suit the birthday boy.
Have used a metallic brown thread to stitch the pattern in varying stitch lengths from 1-1, 1-3, 1-4, and 1-5, depending on the effect I wanted to achieve, onto white card.
I then used my water colour pencils to colour in the shapes and used red power tape to secure the stitching before cutting around the pattern leaving a 3mm white border.
I have added the golf embellishments in the lower section of the left hand page and the stitched work up onto the left hand corner.
If you stretch your imagination, like I have, to think it is a golf umbrella and so it is keeping in with the golfing theme.
I have yet to stitch the second pattern on this sheet, but I will update this once I have completed the design.
This simple design has so many uses and I have a plan for a fairy garden next. Thank you for the inspiration, I really enjoyed completing this design and using it as part of my project. Pamela Horton. The Whispering Platypus.
