SWEET PEAS: Floral Insert With Optional Verse and Bonus Gift Tag/Back/Small Topper Image
These delicate floral sweet peas make a wonderfully summery insert, whether you choose to use the included verse or not. The design matches my "Sweet Peas" Card Topper sheet (cup791662_79993), but would look lovely inside any floral, summery or feminine card.
The insert measures approximately 6x6 inches, and the bonus image (ideal for the inside left and or back of the card) measures approximately 3x3 inches.
As with all my designs, every item of this sheet comes with "small-scale commercial use". Which means that you're free to sell any item you physically hand make using this sheet, whether you sell on CUP or anywhere else.

I had previously purchased the card topper Pink Sweet Peas, cup791662_79993, which is the perfect match for this insert, so I have reprinted it and made a cupboard style card using the original purchase as the cupboard doors, and the insert as the main focus with the cupboard doors open.
I made a white 180gsm card, using CB matte photo copy paper. I cut it at 21cm wide and 17.5 cm high. Using a ruler and pencil, with the inside of the card facing up, I measured in from the left hand side and marked a point at 5.25cm along both the top edge and bottom edge.
I repeated this process now measuring in from the right hand side, marking a point at 5.25 cm along the top edge and the bottom edge.
I then used my scoring tool to score a line between these 2 points on each side from top to bottom.
These become valley fold lines. I then had completed what I call a cupboard fold.
Next, and still with the inside facing up and the cupboard doors open, I used the ruler and pencil to measure and mark up along the left hand side from the bottom edge at 4.5 cm and the same across on the right hand side.
I then used the ruler to line up the marks and ruled a pencil line from the 4.5cm mark on the left to the valley fold, and leaving the next 10.5cm blank begin with the pencil from the valley fold to the 4.5cm mark on the right hand side.
These 2 pencil lines measure 5.25cm each and are the cutting lines for the smaller cupboard doors. I then cut along the pencil lines, and used a soft eraser to get rid of the marks and the lines.
I used a floral 1.5cm wide duct tape to cover all edges, before attaching the insert.
I needed to trim a fraction off the left and right hand sides of the insert. I made a circle template with a 5cm diameter and carefully traced it over the greeting.
And cut it out, then I used padded tape to attach this to the centre of the insert and added a happy birthday sentiment from the sheet supplied to the inside of the smaller bottom cupboard and some cheeky swallows.
This completed the insert part of the card.
I used the original Pink Sweet Peas art work for the larger cupboard door fronts, by cutting the image down the middle, then trimmed the left and right hand pink edges so that the images each then measured 4.75cm wide and 10.75 cm high, and then used padded tape to mount each one onto a white 180gsm card, each measuring 5cm wide and 11cm high.
I set these aside while I attached the duct tape to the card front.
I measured and used my piercing tool to poke holes through the both sets of cupboard doors, 5.5cm down from the top for the larger doors and up from the bottom at 2cm for the smaller doors.
I marked this position on the sets of doors before I attached them with D.S. tape so that all lines and sweet pea flowers matched across.
I used split pins with zirconia style heads to then push through the holes.
If you are like me, and worried about a child catching their fingers on the split pin on the inside, cover this with a matching piece of duct tape.
I used pink baby yarn to make the door closers, which wind around the split pins. This card stands on its’ own with only the smaller cupboard doors open, and also with all doors open.
I had extra paper copies of the original purchase, so I cut out 3 of the sweet pea flowers, and used white glue to attach them to the smaller doors.
I think this has made a very cute card ,with the option to be used for so many celebrations and suitable for most age groups.
I was so pleased to have a matching insert, so thank you Clare, I do love it.
