This is the finished card. It measures 20cm wide and 19cm high. Print the design from the full A4 sheet, cup724087_1549, at 25x20cm.
Cut out the actual design leaving enough margins for stitching, at least 17cm, and centre the design onto the 17cm sheet you wish to use as the backing sheet for your stitching.
Follow the instructions on the sheet supplied for stitching and beading. Trim the finished work down to measure 16.5x 16.5cm for this finished card size.You will need to make 5 pieces to complete the card.
You may choose to use a print or a single colour for these 5 pieces.1.THE CARD FRONTCut a piece of approximately 120gsm card at 20cm wide and 19cm High.2.THE CARD BACKIf you choose a patterned paper or print, you may choose to have the pattern at the back of the card, or alternatively use this as part of the insert by printing on both sides of the card.Cut a piece of card, of approximately 120gsm at 21.5cm wide and 19cm high.3.THE CARD INSERTCut 2 pieces the same from your choice of light weight printed or plain paper for the inserts.
These 2 pieces will need to need to each measure at least 18.5x19.5cm.
The photograph above shows1.The prepared topper with the pink backing sheet, which measures 17.5cm wide and 17.5cm high.2.The inside of the card back with the narrow 1.5cm left hand fold, which measures 21.5cm wide and 19cm high.3.The front of the card which measures 20cm wide and 19cm high 4 & 5.
This photograph shows the 2 pieces to use for the inserts.
Each one is cut to fit the inside of the card front and the inside of the card back.TO PREPARE THE CARD BACK With the inside of the card back facing you and using a ruler and pencil, measure 1.5cm in, from the left and mark at the top edge and bottom edge.Score this line and fold this narrow strip in towards the main body of the card back.
Make sure the fold is firm, using a folding tool.Using D.S. red power tape, attach this along the folded in edge of the card back.
Do not peel off the protective strips at this stage.Using D.S. tape attach both inserts in place, with the pattern or colour of your choice face up.
This photograph shows the D.S. red power tape in place. Leave the protective strips on until you are ready to attach the card front. This photograph shows the insert in place on the inside of the card back.
You can also see the 1.5cm folded strip folded back away from the inside of the card, so that the red power tape is not visible.TO PREPARE THE CARD FRONTAttach the card front over the top of the folded in section which has the red power tape attached, and matching the edges peel the protective strips from the tape pressing firmly to attach the card front.TO ATTACH THE DECORATIVE RIBBON AND LACE TO THE CARD FRONT.Cut a 39cm length of 1cm wide ribbon and a 39cm length of narrow lace.Starting from the inside of the open card, near the lower edge, and using D.S. tape attach one end of the lace close to the inside fold of the card front, and continue the lace attachment to the inside and outside of the card front.
The ribbon is attached in the same manner with the edge of the ribbon just covering the edge of the lace.
There will be a small overlap of both the ribbon and the lace which will make the joins less noticeable.
This photograph shows the lace and ribbon attached to the inside of the card front.
I have joined the 2 lace ends and the 2 ribbon ends by overlapping them at the very bottom end of the left hand insert and using a tiny piece of D.S. red power tape.With the insert attached to the inside of the card front, and the card closed with the outside of the card front facing you attach the completed topper to the card front.
