A crest is a symbol that describes or stands for you, your family, or a group. If you are interested in designing one then read on...

Steps

  1. Decide what your animals, plant or symbol in your crest shall be. Think about what your favorite animal, plant or symbol is. If there is any items or creatures that are important to you use that. Some common animals are lions, bears, lizard, birds, etc.
  2. Decide the secondary, smaller items surrounding the main piece. Try and make these items relate to the main object or animal. For example if your animal was a bird, you could use music notes (as the bird's song), seeds, or whatever.
  3. Draw a ribbon with two-folds, on each side of your Crest's name. It should be straight curve in then out, straight line (big enough for words) curve out then in, then another straight line. on the curves draw lines down, then draw it as if the line was copied behind the curves.
  4. Decide your colors. Choose at least two colors that complement each other. Some common color ideas are red-green-gold, black-silver-green,
  5. Draw, paint or sew the crest on to a paper or cloth. You could put it on a pillow or a flag. You could also put you crest on T-shirts using fabric paint. One more option is just putting it on to a paper and framing it.
